Dexter Axle Customer Support

Took rig in today to have bearings lubed and brakes checked. Bearings were lubed 1 yr. ago, have about 22,000 miles on trailer. Dealer called and advised (surprise, surprise) that magnets were shot and drums were too scored to be turned. Estimate about $900!
Called Dexter, and even though a month out of two year warranty, they agreed to pay for all new parts. I am still responsible for labor charges. Dexter rep named Denise was very helpful.

Curious how many miles one should e pet from brakes. I use the exhaust brake in the mountains, but we do travel quite often along the California and Oregon coasts on very curvy roads.

My previous Montana had 65,000 miles on it with no brake jobs needed. I don't think the truck had brakes done either. So you may have a problem!?!?!

Seems like a lot of wear but at least Dexter helped you out.

Has anyone noticed in the past year or so when you call up a manufacturer about their product wearing out a bit soon they are way more willing to work with you than say 5 years ago? They know they are selling crap made over seas and readily replace it ... unfortunately with more crap. At O'Reillys, I bought a starter with a lifetime warranty ... after the 3rd trip back over a period of some months I was a bit bitchy, but the counter person said "well it does have a lifetime warranty". I mentioned he wasn't the one swapping them out and the bolts were getting used up ... Ha!

Hi

I got 65,000 miles and only replaced the brake shoes. I now have 80,000 on the trailer and have never replaced the wheel bearings. I have 160,000 on the truck and it needs brakes now
