Tongue Weight

Have been fighting hitch weight problems for quite a while, so today I finally weighed the tongue weight of the trailer. Empty it weighed 1040 lbs. Think about that it is a 30.5fks with GVWR of 9780
lbs. Now with the front grey water tanks of 38 Gallons or 304 lbs I could be coming close to exceeding my Class V trailer hitch. It is rated for 1250 lbs hitch weight. So make sure you dump the front tanks and never tow with them full.

My problem was I kept bending Reese snapover brakcets. I now use Draw-Tite because they are made a lot heavier (the material is twice as thick). The Reese are rated for 1250 lbs but I don't think they will make it. Out of two sets I have bent 3 out of the four brackets just loading up the trailer.

Never mind trying to get a refund on the brackets when you buy something in the RV area its yours.

Just watch your hitch weight.

That's interesting since most Reese and Draw-Tite items are interchangeable since one owns the other. Strange how the quality is different. You would think the just the packaging and decals would be different.
