Tank dump lines on HC 381TH

I was under the unit today and took this picture to show how the black tank and gray tank lines come out from under the belly of the beast. As you can clearly see the lines come out almost together. It would have been extremely easy to have tied the lines together so you would be able to dump ALL the tanks thru one hose connection!!! At the very least they could have run BOTH lines toward the back and had them side by side for easy swapping of the hose from one to the other. But oh no Keystone in their infinite wisdom ran one line to behind the rear tire (remember this is a triple axle trailer) and the other line in front of the front tire!!! The two outlets are about 10' apart!!! That means when you pull up to a dump station you have to first dump the black tank then back up, reattach the hose to the gray tank and dump it!!!! This makes absolutely no sense to me. Can anyone on this forum give me a good reason why they would do this? Not to mention how they just left the expanding foam mess. I mean how hard is it to take a piece of cardboard and smooth that foam down while it is still wet?

It actually looks like it would of been cheaper to use a Y and just one outlet. Less pipe less valves less cables. Engineers must be spending all their time on bells and whistles instead of craftsmanship and usefulness!

Sounds like they promoted one of the Amish craftsmen to Amish designer.

Yep I am totally dumbfounded by this demonstration of stupidity! On top of this the remote pull for the front gray tank is up by the gray tank outlet but the rear gray tank pull is located by the black tank pull despite the fact that both gray tanks go out the line at the front! Then just to complete their lunacy they put the two rear pulls almost directly behind the rear tire. You know where they are hard to get st and are assured to be whiped out from a blowout!!

You ever wanted to take a so called engineer (and I use the term very loosely in this case) out to the old wood shed?

Can I fix this? Yes. Should I have too? I think we all know the answer to that one!

I will eventually do just that. But to really do it right I suspect pulling the corplast down and making the tie in on the horizontal above that level. I have been thinking that replacing the corplast with sheet aluminum would be a good idea (granted expensive and time consuming project). Then you could have access hatches in critical areas. I would only go to that much trouble on anew unit that I plan to keep for a long time. What ya think?

Is this a HC issue? I ask because I have owned 3 Montanas and all of them had the tanks all feed into 1 discharge that exited in front of the tires on the street side. No moving lines required.

Not sure on that one. My previous RVs all had one common line. There is no reason I can see that this one should be different.....

There is a remote pull for each of the 3 tanks. Should also be noted that the indicator lights inside show two black tanks but I can’t imagine that being true???

It's not a HC thing you see it on any kind of TH model! I guess they need better Engineers to figure it out. As far as the 2 black tank indicator lights that's in case you had two bathrooms like some BH & TH have. Then you would have two black tanks. Think of that mess!!!! under you 5er James.

Same on my 2017 HC 370BR even though the kitchen gray is a real PIA to open/close.
