Generators on board

Was wondering if I made a mistake, ordered a 2014 3625re without generator prep. Thought I would never dry camp and here we are about to dry camp in two weeks at our local mountain bike park for a race weekend..
Do you feel and hear an on board generator if it is installed up front?

I do have Honda EB3000C CYCLOCONVERTER™ Generator — 3000 Surge Watts, 2600 Rated Watts which I never used... Hoping to run every thing on it but a/c don't think it would come close to pushing it. I have two a/c units.

Yes, there is a hum if the generator is running, but it is nothing that would bother us. In the few times that we have boon docked so far, we run the generator when we have to use a 110 appliance or to charge the batteries. We do not leave it running for extended periods of time.

If all you do is boondock I would say get the onboard gen but we boondock 80% of the time and use a Yamaha ei3000 and get the same result for about half the price that and a inverter system we have no problem staying out for 2 weeks at a time. Hope this helps a bit happy camping .

We used two Honda gens until we went solar. Never have missed an on board generator.

Nice bike rack, Jts140! That's something else I will be looking into for our new Montana. I currently own a Thule 4 bike rack made for a 2 inch receiver hitch, but I'm not sure I want to install it on the back bumper of the FW.

I have the Yamaha ei3000 Like boat391 has and it's a great generator. When we had our TT last year we had the generator running fairly close to the unit and barely heard it from the inside. I purchased a 30' extension cord, so connecting that to the standard RV cord, I could located it close to 60 feet away and not hear it at all. The Yamaha's are super quite and extremely fuel efficient.

We have a Honda 3000is but it is mounted on the truck deck. When we park and set up with the truck 4 feet from the Montana we barely hear it.

we have the Onan Cummins onboard. Never any problem, no vibration & it's nice to have both ac's on in the summer, if needed.

We too have the onboard Onan in our SOB, not used alot, but when needed just a push of the button and will run the entire rig.
Actually sold our Dual Honda's on here to another member.

We have a pair of Honda E2000i inverters with a parallel unit.

We boon dock once a year in February in Florida. We have found this to be a good setup because they both will fit in the gen compartment facing forward and still leave a lot of room for other stuff.

We remove them from the trailer and put them at the end of the power cord and chain them to a tree or fence post so they don’t sprout legs. We can’t hear them in the bedroom.

I fill both with gas and run only one until the boss lady wants to use the microwave then I start the second one and all is well. After she is finished I shut the second one down and one will run everything except the AC’s and the microwave. Both of them will run everything except the second AC.

Did have two Yamaha 2400is gens that worked very well ganged to run in the truck bed, but sold them to offset a 400 watt & 4 T-105 solar setup. LOML insisted I get another gen in case we had a power outage at home, so I picked up a Harbor Freight 3kw for about $300. Turned out it runs only slightly louder than the two Yamahas and will run our 15k AC unit, so I bring it along in the truck bed 'just in case'. We're finishing a 9 week vacation and I've never had to run it. Those times we've dry camped for a night or more the solar worked fine and it wasn't that hot - Monument Valley and several other places.
