Slides keep shutting off while being retracted
This just started on our way down to AZ. What is happening is the slides shut off only when being retracted, (seems to be a resettable fuse or circuit breaker) Just have to wait a few seconds for it to reset, takes about three try's to get them all the way in. Is this a common problem and where is it located.

Ours does that when it's cold or the resettable cb just may need to be replaced which I have had to do in the past.

Yup. Suspect the same recurring problem never addressed by Keystone. On the wall in front storage compartment. Folks have upgraded to 80A breakers.

Yep, has happened to many of us.
Here is what mine looked like in the front compartment.
Replaced the 50 amp breaker to the slides with two 40 amp breakers in parallel.

Rich,
This is a common issue and is an easy fix. Lippert identified this a few years ago. You can either replace the current breaker with a new one which will take care of the problem for a while or you can do one of the fixes recommended by Lippert. I have emailed the documents to you, will have the parts and do the fix for you at Quartzsite.

While my Montana was in Lippert shop to repair a leak they replaced mine with a 80 amp resettable breaker

Thanks! about what I expected. Interesting that they give an open-end response as to amperage, I would think they would be more specific, they write that a higher amperage breaker won't harm the system. They did however state that the breaker should be supplied by the manufacturer.
Mike that is much better, must have been a revision of the first notice.

The original LIP Sheet 0058 did state a single 80A breaker. This new one does not. Also, Lippert put out a procedure for upgrading with an additional 40A or 50A breaker which is what I did to our rig. I only have that document in PDF format. If anyone is interested in that just PM me with you email address and I will send it to you.

Ours did that last time we used it but it was cold. will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when we leave, and when on the road. it was 20 degrees here today. 1 above this am

If it did it once it will probably do it again. Each time it opens it burns the contact a little. The burns cause it to overheat faster next time. It just gets progressively worse.

Sadly it is not just a cheap $2 automotive part it is also a cheap offshore made part worth $0.18. In spite of that, if Lippert specified an 80amp breaker on their spec sheet, the responsibility would fall entirely on Montana or anyone else using the components. Why do they not do this. Well because the pump should not draw more than 50 amps if there is sufficient battery to maintain the voltage/amps required.
This being a known problem to Keystone why don't they put a larger amperage breaker in at build. Because it was not specified by Lippert and it might cost a bit more.
Normally we get one battery when we purchase our units, that is just not enough and even with two the voltage drops very quickly when you have cold weather or overloaded slides or anything else that adds to the power required to move the slides.
I bought an 80 amp resettable breaker after experiencing this problem early on with my Montana, it is still in my tool box, the original works fine with two batteries and plugged into shore power, never does it fail to extend or retract all four slides or run the level up.
I am fortunate that when my Montana is not being used it is plugged in, so the last thing I do before pulling out is unplug and store the power cord. I do the same when I arrive at a campground, after parking, the first thing I do is hook up to shore power, do the level up and then extend all the slides. When leaving I retract all slides, manually lift all but the front jacks before disconnecting from shore power. If you do this and your batteries are in good shape you will have no slides stopping going in or out.
OR... you can put in an 80 amp breaker and really drop the voltage down on that poor battery, my choice is to assist the batteries with the 90amps my converter puts out and I actually think my batteries will last longer.
