Dirty silicon

Do any of you with new color Montana have problems with the silicon turning black like the white ones

Have it on ours and it seems to be mold that engrains itself in the silicone no matter where it is put. I've tried the white and clear and it still does the same no matter what!

I have had my " minion " use "Black Streak" cleaner on my silicon. I have not seen mold, but the silicon and trim sure get dirty. He uses a rag and tries to keep off gel coat. It's time consuming, but the dark, dirty look bothers me!

Silicon CAULKING that goes around seams all over your 5er to keep water out kinda like your bathtub/shower at home, mine seems to get the most mold on the lower half of the front cap

I wondered if that wasn't it. But wondered what the big deal was. I leave my Monty in storage 9 months a year here in Mesa, and for some reason I never have a mold problem. Oh wait. I guess it needs to be damp/wet for mold!

Obiviously Keystone is not using GE Silicone 2, a 100% silicone with a 5 year mold guarentee. So if anyone out there goes about using the plastic hook tool to remove their old mold impregented chalk...make sure to use the good GE Silicone 2 when you redo your joints. And mine need it to get rid of the black speckles...but haven't done it yet. John

Our k-z New Vision ultra had a sealer that dries almost hard and solid. It Never had to be redone! Never attracted dirt. This Monana cost double what the kz did. One would think for the price we paid, keystone would be using a caulk that is better than what is used on cheap. Cheap rvs and cheap bath tubs. I think I will order the stuff kz uses and redo this one.

My '14 3150RL has what looks like pepper ingrained in the silicon. You can clean the outside of the sealer and it becomes clear so you can see the mold in the sealer.

Had they used ProFlex, it would not mold or ever need to be re-caulked.

If you get some, be aware if you get it on something you do not want it on, it is damn near impossible to clean up excess. Don't goo it on and expect to just wipe off the excess. Been there/done that.
