Moving To Montana Soon
Presently we own a 31' TT, pulled by a Dodge 2500 with the Laramie towing package. We hope to move up to a Montana 3750FL. Will the Dodge pull this 5ver? What are the pros & cons of the Front Living room? Where is the best deal on the 2013 model?

Although the specs may approve towing the 3750, I think you would be safer with a 1 ton dually. Having said that, the only drawback I see with the 3750 is the loss of basement storage. The best place to buy is from me at Camping World of Fayetteville, NC. Please email me if interested.

What is the rating of your current truck, and what are the numbers with a 3750 connected to it?, I doubt a 3/4 ton will work, best of luck

What year is your Dodge? I have an '06 Ford and at last check it had slightly better ratings than the same model year Dodge, GMC or Chevy 3/4 ton. My '06 trailer's pin weight put me over my ratings. I went through a lot of $$$ to increase the ratings to the 1 ton and became compliant for my personal use.
These new Montanas are about 1,000# heavier and therefore you can figure that if they don't surpass the pin weight, they'll surpass the Combined GVWR, rear axle or GVWR.
My Ford has a 23,000 CGVWR (1 ton ratings), but if I tow a 15,000# GVWR trailer (most new Montys are over that), it leaves only 8,000# for the truck and cargo. Empty, my truck weighs 8,100# (just me and a full tank of diesel) so I'm already over. Then with DW wife, hitch, all the stuff I carry to support the RV and now I'm way over.
Even converting my truck to a 1 ton, I couldn't tow most of the new Montys.
Unlike what the sales folks say, you must base your ownership on the Maximum ratings since that's YOUR responsibility. The sales folks will sell you based on the shipping weight. That's what burned me, I trusted a sales person. Never again.

Use the numbers on your drivers side door. Dodges can be all over the place on towing weight. Larry's not joking. He's a good guy and if he can't get you the best deal on a new rig he'll tell you that.

The Dodge will "pull it," but it cannot handle the pin weight of a Montana. You'll find the tow capacity will be close when comparing 2500/3500 diesel trucks, but the huge and key difference is the amount of "cargo" the 3500 (especially the dually) can carry. Look on the Tire and Loading Information sticker, driver's side door jam...it will give you the cargo capacity for that vehicle.

I tow a new 3750FL with a 1 ton duel rear wheel Dodge. I think a 3/4 ton would be strssed to handle the load. I like the front lounge rear bed. Most campsites I stay very long are back in so I sleep further from trafic noise. I also feel safer sleeping lower in the event of a fire. I bought from camping world of south Alabama.

Thanks for the input. I will check out the door info VS the Montana numbers. Was just hoping the answer was an easy yes.

We had a Dodge 2500 before we bought our 2010 Dodge 3500 dualy and we never had any problems what so ever towing our 5th wheel.

If you are moving to Montana why bother buying a trailer outside the state. http://www.piercerv.com/ Pierce RV has been in business for more than 30 years and since there is no sales tax up there you can save a bundle.

If you purchase in NC , we can put a temp tag on and if you register the veh in a state where there is no sales, you pay no sales tax. There are 114 existing CW stores, and growing at 5 per year. When you buy from CW you have access to any of our ser ctrs. You are never far from ser with CW.

I will have to agree with Hook. We just purchased the 3750FL from him at Camping World and we could not be happier. I love the front living room because it is separate from the rest of the RV. It truly feels like a room and is very relaxing. If I was sitting in the middle of the camper, I would be looking around and seeing all kinds of things I should be doing. Up here, I'm more focused on the movie, iPad, or conversation. I leave the truck stuff to the men, but I feel very comfortable giving my 2 cents on the 3750FL. Good luck!

LOL Trlrboy... I was wondering the same thing until I realized he meant moving to a new brand of trailer, not the state. Or at least that's how I'm interpreting it.

I am wondering when CW will populate the northeast. Currently, there is one in the whole region that I am aware of, Chichester, NH. Maybe the feeling is it is not a good market up here, I don't know, but there are a lot of campgrounds that are pretty full most of the time. I know I'd like to have more access to CW than catalogs and on-line. Just sayin'...

Yes, the thought is moving to a new RV (Montana) not the state. 2007 Dodge 6 Cyl 6.7 Turbo Diesel, with 3.73 rear axle ratio. Dodge.com says it can pull 13,500 PDS.

Figure the weight of the trailer, all the stuff you will put in it including groceries, two full propane tanks, everything you will carry in the truck including people and pets, any water you will have in the holding tank, a full tank of fuel and anything I have missed and that is the weight you will be towing. I am more concerned with stopping and control of the truck and trailer. Any 3/4 ton truck will have the same engine and tranny as a one ton but there is a whole lot more truck in a one ton.

NCFischers/Jim: I hear you about the stopping and the control. I may have to rethink the truck or the fifth wheel I want/need.

i would suggest to go to the CW webb site and do a search , and if not satisfied then email Marcos Lemonis who owns CW and Good Sam, he is easily accessable.
