How often do you dump your tanks when traveling?

About to make our first "long" trip. Will be traveling and staying one night at a time for about 4 days until we reach our final destination. Do you dump your tanks every day or how often? I don't want to carry too much extra weight or stress out the holding tanks.

When we travel like that, I have a cap on the sewer connection that will accept a garden hose. So I'll hookup a short section of hose to just empty the two grays every couple of days. In four or five days I don't worry about the black until we reach our distination and hook everything up.

If you don't open the valve on the grey water when you hook up the garden hose it really has a bad smell after a day....

When boondocking in fields at festivals we open the grey up immediately and have it draining through the garden hose connection.

When on the road in travel status at every stop. It takes like 10 mins.

I wouldn't worry about the black tank in that situation. The sloshing around while you drive will help loosen solids anyway. The gray is more of a personal preference. Dumping grays after 1 night is hardly worth the time to me. unless you take one heck of a shower the weight will be minor.

I always empty the greys, I travel with 1/3 fresh and dump the black, but put a couple of gallons of water and chemical in it to slosh around and be able to use on the road.

Dump every chance I get, but when we travel across the country we frequently stop overnight at Wallmart or similar situations so we probably dump everyother day. Never more than two days. If necessary will dump at Pilot while getting gas.

We just finished our third 9k+ mile trip (and had two 3k+ mile ones as well). If only spending one overnight, I'll have the fresh water 1/3 full with everything else empty before leaving a CG. Two overnights means 2/3 full, and three means a full one. If there's a chance to dump on the way (rest stop or whatever) I'll take it, but I don't worry about it as the weights still the same only in different places. We've gone five days dry camping, but that means being careful with water usage. Sooner or later, the wrong tanks get full and the other one gets empty.

It's just physics that the less weight you tow, the better mpg you'll get, but I haven't experienced a tremendous difference with a few hundred pounds or so.
