SlideTopper Tension Adjustment?

Anyone know how to adjust the tension in an A&E slidetopper to snug up the fabric?

Thanks,

Thanks,
IIRC, the tech told me one turn per length in feet of the slidetopper.

Michael, I'm not sure about that. I was thinking ours had a short arm on it that you release, then turn as needed and lock back in place. Our long topper holds water, and I had wanted the dealer to adjust it. They told me the sag is normal. I did see a motorhome that had a support in the middle of the topper roll to keep it straight. That looks like a good idea to me. Just one thing. I have adjusted those spring loaded over head doors. Take care, that thing will eat your knuckles.

Just an idea here! Brain fart really. would a piece of PVC the length of the topper supported by a down tube of PVC with a "T" foot of PVC help in keeping the sag out and the water drained. The big problem would to be to remember to take it out before you slide in. Just a thought in passing.

I think so. Actually, there was a TT on the lot we are on now that had 1/2" PVC in the manner you described. It looked to be doing the job, although I never had the opportunity to look at the top of it.

Thanks - I think I will wait until we get to a dealer and let them risk their wrists.

Well, if it was me...I'd just do the following;
1) Run the slide in.
2) Pull the awning hex tube screws out.
3) Slide Awning out of end brackets.
4) Give it one turn more roll up.
Reverse procedure to re-assemble

Be aware that if you put too much tension on the toppers they could pull the top of the slide in because the slide is pushed out at the bottom and you may not get a good seal.

One person can do it. Takes two if you are going to take it off completely

Yes...one person job as mtheo commented. Long slide will require multiple movements of your step ladder...but sure would be best to have DW helping guide it back in. Agreed one turn should be limit and test to be sure not too much tension is loaded against slide when its run back out.
