Maxx-Air Covers

How many of you have a maxx-Air vent cover on your 5th wheel?

I have them on my current unit(travel trailer) but I am trying to decide if I should put them on the 5th wheel I am picking up next weekend. This would certainly add about a foot to the clearance. I plan to keep the ones off my trailer but I am not sure about adding them to the new unit.

sorry to all of you who read this post earlier. I start typing fast on this new laptop and forget the keyboard is smaller than my old one. I have been creating a lot of new words lately. Sorry.

We had them on our TT also, but have not yet put them on the Montana. A concern, as stated, is the extra height. I've already ruined a vent cover just driving down our street...low tree limb.

I have them and wouldn't be without them. They may add 4" to 6" to your height. Look at the picture in my signature.

I asked the tech who did our walk-through this question yesterday. He said if you have Fantastic Fans with rain sensors you don't need Max Covers. (It appeared to me the Fantastic Fan vent covers open wider than normal covers, so a standard Max Cover might not work. He recommended them for the bathroom vent.

We have them for our non Fantastic Fan vents and would not be without them either. Do be careful with the additional 4" or so height, though.

We have em, would not be without them, same as Stiles.

If you are gonna install Fantastic fans in every vent opening, maybe??? But, not sure I want to trust that sensor if it were over my bed??

Covers work the best for us, personal preference and life style thingy!

Decisions, decisions.!!

I have to agree with most. Have three of them, never have to worry about sudden unexpected rain showers.

Love them, put them on all three vents. Even when raining can run the fan, with rain sensor it shut off the fan.

We only have one Max Air and we put it on the back vent so that it would not increase clearance requirements. We put a Fantastic Fan over the bed.

I have 2 Fantastic Vents and 2 MaxxAir Power Vent covers. I went with the Power vent covers as they allow the vent to fully open and have a larger area for pushing the air out. And Yes, the front power vent cover is the highest point of the trailer. Even higher than the front AC. Like anything else, you have to be cognizant of the fact that you have a higher clearance. I would not be without them. I even leave the vents open and operating when on the road. Try that without the MaxxAir's.
Just something that I learned from Fantastic Vent at a recent RV Show. The sign in their both said they would remove any vent cover over any Fantastic Vent for free. When questioned their comment was that they DO NOT recommend any cover over their vents.
When I asked why it was because they restrict the flow and that with the rain sensor there is no need for a cover. I than asked about traveling down the Interstate at 65MPH with the vent open. He said that was a huge NO NO that the wind turbulence would take them off. When I explained with the vent covers in place I can and do travel down the highway with the vents open and operating. He couldn't than find an argument.
I had to admit that the standard MaxxAir covers do have a much smaller opening than the Power vent covers and the restricted air flow could be a big factor
I took a close look at the MaxxAir Power Vent covers on my rig and with the size of the cover opening I can see no way that these Power vent covers could possibly restrict any air flow. I personally feel that there is more to the story than Fantastic Vent is willing to tell. Regardless, I will be keeping my covers.

We removed all of our Maxx-Aires except one. We kept that one just so we could have an open vent whenever we wanted it and not have to worry about rain. The reason we removed the other three covers is because we installed three Fantastic Fan vents, non-automatic. Fantastic Fan company in Imlay, MI does not recommend covers over their fans because they (the covers) restrict air flow. The reason we did not install the automatic Fantastic fans is because in light sprinkles the lids are constantly going up and down.

We have them on ours as it's the only way you can run the vents when it's raining.

I put Maxx Air Fan/mate over my FF so I could leave the vent open in storage. This limits the heat/humidity buildup and I don't have to worry about a dead battery since I disconnect the wire.

Have 'em, love, will have 'em again. The one thing I'd do different is to install them with the new hinged brackets which allow you to open them from on top for cleaning purposes. Since the screens are a real hassel to remove from inside, that would help.

I have them and doubt I will ever be without them on any future RV's. In my opinion they are worth every penny.
