Stiles,
Sorry to learn of your misfortune and I have experienced the same frustration. Glad you are okay. It seems I remember a post sometime ago where you had purchased some G rated tires. If so, was it one of those tires that gave you the problem and what tire pressure were you running.
Thanks,

Stiles -
I feel fortunate to have not had a blowout. We just replaced our tires after 3.5 years and probably 15k miles. Glad you are okay and wish you a speedy recovery for the Montana. I need to remember to check the torque at the recommended intervals.

Stiles, we are really sorry for you. What an experience!
But, thank you for posting about it. (and thanks to the others also)
I had wondered about the tire monitoring systems, but now know that I WILL have one.
Good luck.
Larry

Stiles ...glad you two are OK. Sorry for the damage to the Monty.
A few years back we had 3 blow outs on a previous 5th wheel, going to AZ. Did minor damage. Finally bought 4 new tires. Not long after this we traded for the Monty.
Then we bought the Doran tire pressure monitors. Gives us peace of mind going down the road.

Stiles, so sorry to hear of the problem but grateful that you and Dianna were all right. We had a truck pass us the other day and its trailer was about to lose a cap. We wondered then if we could feel it if one of our trailer tires went flat. You gave us our answer.

stiles watson, sorry about your damage to the Monty. I really believe if your pulling a trailer of any kind you must have the Pressure Pro system. I use our PP on several different trailers. It will save you a ton of Money. I believe richfaa said that low air pressure is the cause of most major damage blowouts, heat gets extreme in the tire thats low and will blow out about 90% or better. Get the Pressure Pro, I understand you now can get the PP that also tell you or warn of high pressure.... GBY...

The doran system will indicate the PSI no matter what it is. I do not recall if there is a high pressure warning. I will have to read the book. We have our PSI set at EXACTLY 80PSI on the Doran system. I have seen it as high as 90psi on a very hot day. I did have a alarm one time and the pressure had dropped to 68psi. I think if I saw a really high psi on a tire I would be pulling over and checking.

Glad to here your OK! After the one tire blew out did the other tire handle the trailer weight? We had a tire seperation on our previous '04 3570 and the good tire that was left was rubbing on the under part of the living room slide to where it was smoking from the friction. Just wondering if Keystone beefed up the suspension with the Moreryde system that we have in our present '07 3400.

Tire pressure monitoring systems appear to have come a long ways since the Doran system I had about five or six years ago. It also mounted on the stem but had difficulty reading the senders as far back as the Montana axles. Plus, in those days, it ate two button batteries per wheel per month. I understand they are much improved now?
One problem for me is that older Doran had a weak buzzer in a very high pitch that I could not hear. I cannot hear anything that high. Which of the newer systems are louder and a lower pitch?

Steve..I have high freq hearing loss and rarely wear my hearing aid because it irritates my ear. I can hear the Doran alarm clearly. It is not a high frequency.
