awnings

Does anyone know how to prevent the awnings over the slide outs to stop making so much noise in high winds.

You can use a few things: a beach ball, those long noodle sponge things used in pools, a few towels. Be creative, as the main thing is to create a little tension on the awning material. I do not have the slide awnings, but my neighbor at the river does and it seems to work.

Saw some people in the RGV who had used plastic pipe and made short stands they put up there. Sorry, no photo, but sorta like some have posted here for holding up the sewer hoses, only this has to be short, and long enough for each slide. Asked one owner, he said he did not "glue" them, he could take apart for travel, stowed easy, did not take up a lot of room.

I use the pipe that Mrs CountryGuy is talking about. I used 2 pieces of 1" pipe with 3 stands, like she said you do not glue the pipe together so you can dismantle it for storage and transport. I only use it on the big slide, not the smaller ones.

At the RV show this winter, I saw a dealer selling inflatable wedges specifically made to put under your slide awnings. Might be able to google them.

Jim

Edit: Found them, check Here

Check the Carfree of Colorado website. I believe they make an after-market add-on that will also work with Dometic slide toppers.

Ours do make some noise but we've got used to it after all this time. First, though, make sure yours are taut when extended. If not, your dealer should be able to adjust the spring tension. That adjustment is not suggested for those who don't know what they are doing (like me). If the tension releases it can take off an arm or hand, so I'm told. If you want to do it yourself, get good instructions and a helper.
