stabilizer jacks

I'm wondering if the telescoping jacks are better than the scissor type jacks at stablizing a 5ver.

I wouldn't think so. The telescoping jacks won't have any side to side stability, they just lift.

I replaced our scissor jacks after about a month from when we purchased it with the telescoping jacks. We feel it was a good improvement, this is the one we used, http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...er-jack-rv.htm just our two cents.

I guess I am of the opinion that telescoping jacks are better than the scissor type as far as providing any stability. The scissor type connect to the trailer at a single point and only provide verticle support for the trailer. The telescoping type have two connections to the trailer. Since they are angled, they provide vertical support plus some side to side support.
But either one will be greatly enhanced by stabilizers such as JT Strongarm or similar.

i was thinking the same thing. i am planning to fabricate a stablilizing system similar to jt's, so i don't know if ti's worth replacing my scissor type. thanks for your input.

Ironically - if you talk to the JT Engineers, the scissor jacks are far superior to telescoping jacks for stability. The telescopoing jacks demonstrate way too much flex between the pivot point and the ground pad, which almost defeats the purpose. JT's idea of the perfect system is to replace the rear jacks with a heavier duty quality scissor jack and add the JTs all the way around.
