Refrigerator size options?

Anyone know if a 3400RL can be ordered with the same size refrigerator as the Big Sky 340RLQ?

That double wide refrigerator was on reason we picked the 340 RLQ over the 3400 RL. There is a difference in the cabinetry, not just putting in the refrigerator. With the double wide, we lose at least 1/2 the cabinet space to the right of the stove top and the drawers underneath. Rving floor plans are a give and take world.

Stiles,

Plus you have a grey shower instead of the ugly white tile stuff

We looked at a Big Sky yesterday, she sure was pretty, but more than I want to pay at this point. We don't full time so I have other bills to pay. To bad we can't order the bigger frig on our 3400RL.

Well, the reason I was asking this is that we are thinking about giving our '06 to our kids and getting another 3400. The problem is that I don't see all the bells and whistles on the Big Sky as compared to the anniversary edition of the 3400.

We really like all of the stuff Keystone implemented on the new line of Montana's - most of which we have already implemented ourselves. The rebond pad is a real plus!

Our thoughts are simple: our kids really want a 5th wheel and it would provide them with a financial advantage in that they could lower their monthly rental housing expense; they actively talk about their desire to have a 5er; and we have a friend who has a 2006 GMC 3500 who needs to sell - we would buy the truck, have a hitch installed and...you know the rest.

The only thing I would love to see improved on the 3400 is the refrigerator, although I, like Stiles, might miss the counter space.

Michael, I thought when you are retired, you have plenty of time to do things like go to the store. Therefore why do you need a larger refrigerator? You are suppose to be taking Kathy out to eat most of the time.

Michael,
Could you give some consideration to adopt a 66 year old man?

Just in case you have some other things you want to give away.

I READ SOMEWHERE ON THIS FORUM THAT SOMEONE HAD PURCHASED A SMALL FRIG LIKE THEY USE IN DORMS AND PUT IT IN THE PLACE WHERE A WASHER/DRYER WOULD GO. THEY ARE NORMALLY 4 CUBIC FT IN SIZE SO THAT MAY EQUAL THE SIZE OF A DOUBLE WIDE FRIG

Thats a good idea Michael - I think I'll give mine to the kids so I can go shopping for a Big Sky! They'll eventually get it anyways.

Ahhh Back to reality - the Big Sky upgrades have to be just around the corner! In fact, I thought I saw most of these goodies were offered on the 10th anniversary Big Sky first (corian, remote, flat TVs, etc.) but I might be mistaken.

DW loves that new "wide-by-side" fridge at Camping World. We have one like that in the garage and its great for large dishes and platters. She wouldn't mind loosing the counter, but won't compromise on the window, too dark in there already. (I did see your higher watt bulb post but haven't tried it yet).

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think the 3400 gets the nod. Since I do nearly all the cooking, I don't think I would want to lose the counter space.

Michael and Kathy,
We ordered our 3400 with the 10 cu ft refrigerator, which of course cost extra, but I am amazed how much bigger it is. The outside dimensions are the same, I believe, but they use better or different insulation, so you have an extra 2 cu ft inside. I did not want to give up the counter space, the lower cabinet for pots and pans or the window either. I also did not like the smaller freezer compartments, even though you have two. You two get the outstanding parent award, but I'm sure you will enjoy your new Montana especially with all the changes.

We had the 8 cuft fridge in our first SOB fiver before we ordered our 3400. The 10cuft fridge is much bigger. The only thing that we wished for is the inside could accomidate the larger items like a gallon of milk and another bigger container standing up. Settle for 1/2 qallon milk now and guess what? Never have to wory about soured milk. For Juices we put them in the bottom of the door or buy the half gallon with the screw top and lay them on there side. Very happy with the size of the freezer and fridge now that it is 10cuft. Not sure I would want to give up the extra storage to accomidate the 12cuft fridge. Works for us.
