Norcold 1200

I am boondocking here in Assauteaque Seashore, my Norcold freezer is doing its job, at a setting of 9, but the lower half is barely keeping things cool.I have checked the fans they both appear to be working , not sure if they is running long enough to do the job. Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. I am running in the propane model. The upper rear portion is quite warm to hot. I have recently added a temporary fan in the lower have to assist with the cooling, Any suggestions would be great.

Open up that top vent and look at the two metal baffles. Each should be full width of the enclosure. The bottom one of this pair should come up to within a quarter of an inch from the finned piping on the lower right side AND be bent inward to be within a quarter of an inch from the fins (vertical & horizontal). The top baffle should curve out to the inside of the slide wall and be about an inch or so at most above top of the vent. The bottom of this baffle should come down and be touching the top of the fridge or very close to it and be less than an inch inward at that point. There should be insulation behind it. Mine were bad, gave the assembly line an f grade on install. I used two more pieces of aluminum added to each baffle, insulated, screwed in place, and aluminum taped to meet requirements of norcold on the install document. My fridge now runs really well. Bet yours is not as above. John

Check the thermistor connector inside the frig light cover. Unplug and plug back in a few times. Make sure terminals appear to be making connection. Happened to us in Goshen. Keystone sent us to local supplier that found the problem.

I was having a similar problem recently. I checked the thermistor, and found the clip very rusted, so bad that the thermistor wasn't making secure contact with the fin. I just ordered a new thermistor along with a new clip. The freezer is running at 10 degrees and the sodas and beer are very cold, and this at a 5 setting.

Thanks for the help, I will order the thermistor and hope that this corrects the problem.

I just want to give everyone an update. I replaced the thermistor and the frig is working great. I highly recommend getting a spare one.
Thanks again for the help.

Speaking of the 1200 series Norcold, I just got a post card from some outfit that is putting out info about a class action suit against Norcold for present and past 1200 series owners. I have had the upgrade and still ended up having to have a new cooling unit installed. Glad I got the Good Sam extended warranty. A 2500.00 repair job cost us 200.00.. Just a heads up for you 1200 series owners, keep an eye on your mail box.

We also had a new cooling unit in our 1200 Norcold. Good Sam ESP paid the bill.
