Water pump runs every 3-5 minutes

Getting ready for our first outting. So i sanitized the water system and it seems to not be able to maintain pressure with all valves closed the water pump runs for a few seconds every couple of minutes. any thoughts?

I'm thinking you either have a leak somewhere or a partially open faucet. Water pumps are activated when water pressure drop below a certain threshold.

Are you using water somewhere? Water heater will cause pump to cycle, toilet will cause it to cycle.... My guess is you have that wonderful, leakamatic toilet called tetford aquamagic 2. And given how it loves to leak water into the toilet as much as leak out of the bowl....that would be your answer. Many of us got rid of ours when they flooded the trailer or other joys. John

It could be that your pump isn't holding the pressure and is letting water flow backwards through it. Had that happen to me on a trailer many years back, but haven't had anything like it since.

That's a good possibility as well Walt.

If you don't find the cause, your unit should be under warranty yet and the dealer can pressure test your water system and the pump to see if there is a leak somewhere or if the pump is letting water back through it to create the low pressure. Let us know what you come up with!

Something else to check, If you have a pressure fill instead of a gravity fill for you fresh water tank, check to make sure your fill valve is set to "normal" not "fill". Our pump will cycle about every 10 minutes if the valve is left in the "fill" position.

The fill valve seem to have been the culprit. Thank You to everyone for your advice (I think I'm going to go for a new toilet anyway really don't like this one)

I recently replaced our Thetford junk with a Dometic 320 elongated bowl. MUCH better!

You're not the only one. The clue was when he said first time out. It happened to us too.
