Looking for camping near New Bern/Cherry Point, NC

I may have a chance to combine a business trip and camping trip to the New Bern/Cherry Point, NC area the end of October and was looking for possible campgrounds to stay. Also if there are any routes/areas to avoid and good stopping points to stay half way to/from Indiana, that would be appreciated.

We stayed in the New Bern KOA a couple years ago. It's on the far side of the river from the town. It was nice and overlooks the river.
