Adding Anti-Stiction Fluid to Leveling System
Just added 1 Quart of CAT anti-Stiction fluid to the leveling system. Just wondering if it helps or not?? Have not had a chance to use the Montana yet. Wanted to hear if anyone else tried this and wanted to know if it works??? Got tired of hearing the pings and pongs. So I thought I would give it a try.. I would like to hear from others that have tried this.

John,
Thanks for posting this question. I have the ability to turn off the hydraulic slides via 3 valves at the leveling compartment and was figuring out the sequence when I heard the pops and pings you were describing. I was wondering if that was normal and now I know. Once I had the slides configured the way I wanted them I went out and relieved the pressure on the valves and they noise went away.

Yes, it will work for you. You'll find many old posts on this, folks here have been doing it for several years.

Yes it definitely worked for us. One might find they have to operate the slides and level up a few times before the fluid gets thoroughly mixed.
No pings or poncsak in our system now.

Actually lippert recommends adding to eliminate/reduce noise in the leveling system. I used the fork oil option. Discussed in the owners manual. Leveler noise disappeared.

I added a quart of the CAT fluid a few years ago, right after Lippert came out with the fix. It has worked ever since, with no popping. It might take a few cycles to circulate and mix the fluid, but it definitely works.

Do you have to remove a quart before you add the quart of anti-stiction fluid so as to not overfill the tank?

If the tank is low, you might get by not having to remove fluid. It is suggested to have all the slides in and all the jacks up before removing and adding fluid, otherwise you will have a mess with fluid everywhere. You either have to be hooked up, or have jack stands capable of handling the weight of the front of the rig, so you can lift the front jacks. You can use a cheap turkey baster or a siphon to remove some of the fluid. The Lippert instructions say if one quart doesn't work, a second one may be needed, but I only needed one.

I used the Torco fork oil and it helped alot. Like said ... you'll have to take some out to put some in unless you want a mess. Here's the instructions to do the job. The reason they want to do it 1/2 quart at a time while moving the cylinders is it gets the new oil to both sides of the cylinders faster. http://www.lci1.com/images/support/lipsheet/0295.pdf

I did not, unit was new, reservoir was filled only halfway.

We just added a quart of CAT hydraulic fluid additive 1U-9891. Worked like a charm no more popping or pinging. Slides in, truck hooked up all jacks raised. Slides in and out, jacks up and down a few times.

It's almost scary when a simple fix like this actually works
