Furnace

It is in the 30's here at Chester Frost this a.m. The furnace seems to run a lot at night.. It does not run very long. Maybe 4 minutes then turns off and then in another 5 minutes it turns back on..
Is this normal for this furnace? We have a 2008 3000RK..
Thanks

My furnace does the same thing except using a small electric heater should reduce the times the furnace comes on.

I noticed ours will do that also. Seems to be a pretty tight deadband between the turn on and turn off points.
We use a Lasko heater http://www.laskoproducts.com/heaters/model_5900.html to reduce that and also save on propane.

We use the electric also. Have you tried Black Bear Cove in Benton? Sure beats the crowds at Chester Frost.
Neighbors went to Harrison Bay this weekend. No crowds.

We have two Lasko towers which we run much more than the propane...especially when the electic is included in the camping fee.

Have not been to Black Bear Cove.. We have been here for 2 weeks and no crowds here for sure.. We like Chester Frost better than Harrison Bay.. It is about 20 miles further for us, but well worth it.

Unfortunately these heaters are not very efficient. Go stand at the exhaust port for your heater and see how much heat is going to the outside. We use electric heaters most of the time and just augment with the propane heater. Good luck and stay warm.

Marry Christmas to all!

If you have the 'digital' thermostat -- I'd say that is normal cycling time. I had the analog initially and had about a 10 degree variance between when it kicked on then off -- that is -- set for 65, it would come on and then go off when the inside temp got to about 70 degrees. IT would not come on again until the inside temp got down to almost 60. So, you went from freezing to sweltering to freezing again. I followed the instructions I found on a link either on this site (or it may have been RV.net) last summer (2007) and put in a digital that runs on AA batteries. That one seemed to have a plus or minus range of about 2 degrees (1 over to 1 under) -- so the heater ran for a very short time but also stayed off a much shorter time. (I did something stupid earlier THIS summer and broke the digital one off the wall -- put the analog back on and never got around to changing it back out ....)
