Adding shelving to cabinets
When you are out in the country several miles from a hardware store, improvisation is required. I was adding shelving to the Montana. On our 340 RLQ the cabinets are only 8" deep so we use them for a pantry. I wanted to divide the 14" bays by half for stacking canned goods.
I cut the shelves to size and added a raised lip on the front to keep the cans from falling out in transit. Now I needed to attach them. I found some left over 3/8" dowel which I cut into 1/2" lengths, drilled a pilot hole through each one and, with a 1-1/16" cap screw, attached the dowels to the inside of the cabinet, front and back, for the shelf to rest atop.
Since these materials were on hand, it was much cheaper than burning 2 or 3 gallons of diesel to go to the hardware store plus the dowels work very well as shelf stops or pegs or whatever they are called. The shelving is easily removable if need be.
