Bedroom Slide Opening On It's Own
We have an '05 Mountaineer 297RKS F/W.
Twice in the last week I have noticed the bedroom slide is opening on it's own.
Where do I start.
Thanks Ray

Brad, thanks so much. That is exactly what I was looking for.
We have been pretty busy this week with STUFF and I haven't been on the forum like I usually am. I can't believe that post was only 3 days ago.
I will post my findings.
Again, Thanks
Ray

Hi Ray...Give Lippert a call, they are very helpfull. Not sure what the warranty is on the '05 model year,{hydrolics} but it could be for 5 years from date of purchase if you are the original owner. Good luck.

Bill, It appears that we are traveling the same road. Unfortunately I am not the original owner.
Thanks to Brad I was able to read your post. I have printed out the info that MIMF gave to you. I will start there and see what happens. I will post my findings as I go.

The warranty on the hydraulics is 5yrs I have the same problem and lippert said to hold out as long as I can before changing the cylinder. I guess the warranty is only good for one change out.

We had the cylinder replaced last week and so far the slide is staying in. It was done on warranty from Lippert. Lippert wanted us to wait until the warranty was almost up but one of the service manager said to change it now in case we had further problems with it there would still be warranty coverage.

Don, do you happen to have Lippert's number and contact person's name handy ?
I guess I'm going to have to call them.
Thanks Ray

My dealer did the contacting after I gave them the info that I was given by one of the members who I think worked for Lippert. This is the info from the OME section on the front page of this web site.

If you have a good dealer there they should do the leg work for you. The one thing they will want to know is the distance between the centre of the two hoses and the colour of the cylinder so they can get you the right cylinder. This is cvered by a 5yr. warranty through Lippert. Hope this helps

Ray,
You can also contact Lippert at warranty@lci1.com.
If you close the room and the close the IRC valve and that room still wants to drift open, the piston seal inside the cylinder is defective, the hole cylinder will need to be changed.
Keep us all posted.

Mimf, I assume that is the knob that is on the pump. I will go out right now and close the slide and close that valve and see what happens.
Thanks

My 3400 is in the shop how with the same problem.
A couple of months ago the bedroom slide was leaking out.
Service worked on it and it still leaked out.
They bleed the system to purge air but that didn't work.
They replaced the pump but that didn't work.
They are talking to Lippert now to try to work it out.
Hope they fix it soon as I'm getting anxious to get out.

MIMF, I closed the bedroom valve and a couple of days later the main slide started to open. I closed it and open the bedroom valve again and then a few days later the bedroom started to open again. The fluid level dropped, I haven't refilled it yet but I was hoping it was purging the air.
Probably wishful thinking, huh?
I will refill the reservoir anyway and see what happens.

jackandh2o:
You've proved by isolating the bedroom slide with the IRC valve there is no movement thus no leak or seal failure. Since you indicate your fluid level is dropping ... I'd guess you have a leak somewhere else in the system. If closing the bedroom IRC valve results in the living room starting to open on its own ... this tells me that circuit is likely causing your problem with the bedroom slide. Without closing any of the IRC valves, a leak or seal failure will effect the entire system and the slide with the most out of square seal to the main wall frame will move first ... in your case it appears to be the bedroom slide. You're going to have to drop part of the belly pan to be able to search for leaks ... if no leaks can be found, like MIMF says, it's possible your slide cylinder is internally leaking by the piston seals. The only other alternative is the pump itself. Close all IRC valves and see what happens. If all slides stay put, unfortunately it's the pump assembly.
Addressing air in the system ... unless you do have a leak (which not only allows fluid to leak out, but air to leak in) or allow the fluid level in the reservoir to get so low the pump becomes able to suck air in the system ... completely cycling the slides 2-3 times will purge most all major air pockets. Once purged, a closed system (no leaks no low fluid level) will not mysteriously produce air pockets. I hope I'm not coming across as the "Bomar Brain", but I deal with hydraulics in my line of work ... with out actually being there, this is my best guess.
