Move over Super Duty

For you guys who would like a BIG pickup Chevy will unveil new 4500 and 5500 trucks at the Detroit auto Show this month. They should be great.

I have always been a BowTie Guy since I had Big Block Chevy's back in the 60's and 70's. I loved the Duramax/Allison combo but was disillusioned after we drove the new Fords. What a Tow Truck our Platinum Series has turned out to be! It has been more comfortable that our BMW X35 Diesel, and that was a nice Tow-er.
Glad to hear that GM has stepped it up, I know a lot of us are concerned that we are overweight so I hope they have been paying attention to the luxury side of HD work vehicles. All of the manufacturers seem to be stepping up to grow the Ladies truck market as well!
Sure wish Dodge would play also...talk about a workhorse

I'm a GM guy, I love the trucks but i own a Ram with the Aisin because it the only true diesel engine currently in a pickup, If GM had the Cummins i would buy it instead. Ford would be in my wheel house but only the 7.3 liter trucks. Not to bash anyone but just the way i would have it for me,

Hi

Sorry to burst your bubble but.

I have worked on the GM, Cat, Cummings, Mercedes and Isuzu diesel sense the early 70’s.

When compared to weight verses sizes and HP out put the Isuzu has always out classed the others and did not start using the glow plug until they turbo charged them and then like the Cummings the heater for start doesn’t operate until the temperature gets down where heat is needed. The difference is Cummings uses a heater grid in the intake instead of glow plugs.

I worked on all of them in equipment from excavators to automobiles I have even worked on the 2 stroke GM 4-53 diesel in pickup trucks back in the 90’s.

Are you responding to the right post?. What does that have to do with my choice of trucks? and even gives me one more point to the Cummins. No glow plugs.

Is there an Isuzu truck we should be looking at to pull our rigs?

Isuzu has built the GM Duramax for years...not really sure what the arrangement is today. Just like International used to build the PowerStroke...until all the problems arose. They brought the new 6.7 in house to one of their facilities in Mexico to hopefully better control their quality. Time will tell

THERE IS NO "g"in Cummins Engines. There is a reason Ram has used Cummins Engines for what? Almost 30 years, they work. I will never own a GM product, and Ford is playing leap frog with Ram on power. The new 6.7 with the aisan (sp) is a bullet proof combo in a Ram.

So you caught a typo error!!!

It s your preference I work on all of them and my preference is the truck that delivers the power to the road in a way that it is usable.

So which brand uses Isuzu besides Isuzu itself?

I find my best trade is at 3 1/2 years with around 140,000 miles. I just keep buying Powestrokes and have had zero problems. Besides, I like new trucks.

I have a 2015 Ford F-350 King Ranch and love it. That being said I a sure you can't go wrong buying any of the Big three HD trucks. I see all three brands on the road and none broke down on the side of the road.

It may be because we pull w/ one but we seem to see way more CTD towing than anything else. In campgrounds from Seal Beach in CA to Goose Creek in SC.

You couldn’t sell me anything but a Chevy for the first 20+ years of driving. Then a Chevy salesman made me mad and I went to look at Fords and Dodges. Have been driving and highly satisfied with my Fords for the last 30 years. But I think it is great to have multiple options. I really don’t think any one of the big 3 is any better than the others. Just a matter of personal preference.

Every one of them has one issue or another and any one can fail for whatever reason. They all are made much better than they used to be, so in my mind it's all about how much goes out of my pocket.
