JT's Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer Installed

I have the Stabilizer installed now and with the two 6" tubes I have 10" of clearance from the ground to the jack pad. What do you think, is it enough clearance or should I move one of the tubes to get more clearance?

Doug, how well does that stabilizer work. It does look like it would work pretty good. Your clearance question, could you go over some rough ground real slow while someone watches..........I would hate to say I thought 10inches was fine and have you make contact. Take care.

I have to tell you that this really makes a difference. It is very stable inside now compared to the way it was before installation.

Doug, Great addition. Did you do it yourself? How are plans going for the trip to Pendelton? I guess I have too many questions. I wonder if at Q one could get this system at a discount and install it yourself.

Take care

How about photos of where they attach to the body?

Dick,
Yes I did install it myself, took about 5 hours because of all the reading of the &&&^%%$^*instructions. Illustrations would be helpful.

The plan is for us to leave here on Sept. 2 and arrive in Pendleton on Sept 4. We are scheduled for the repair to start at 7:00 am on the 6Th.

I know what the dealers pay for the stabilizers and they get about a 40% mark up on it.

Here is a picture of the front mounting area. It is on the pan 27 3/4 inches from each landing gear to the bracket.

And here is a picture of the rear mounting brackets. The cardboard in the picture was intentional. To see what is behind it you must meet me in person.

Depends on where you park/live and where you will be going. With 10" of clearance I could not get in the driveway. Have a huge drive, but it has a dip and then a hump where it meets the street...as a result I have to take the spare tire off, too.

Limited ground clearance is more sensitive behind the wheels than up front. Ask me how I know.
I flattened the rear steps on my 2955RL pretty good but that is a weak point of steps behind the wheel. I replaced them with a 2 step porch that is just fine because the 3 step porch had the bottom step only about 2" above the ground and I did not need the 3 step. Click on my signature pic and you will see the rig is fairly level and you will notice there is no steps in that pic.
because after I fixed them, I kept them in the basement storage until we got a campsite. For travelling we had a step stool.

Doug,

I'd be more worried about dragging the equipment behind the cardboard. :-)

On a previous 5th wheel I had a 13' long metal storage box bolted up to the underside of the unit (it carried my fold -up Porta Bote). It was 9" thick (I never measured how much clearance between it & the ground) and never came close to grounding out, even when going over driveways, inclines, etc. I would think you will have plenty of clearance unless you straddled something tall in the roadway. Doug, has anyone ever come up to you at a rest area and make a derogatory comment about that addition behind the cardboard?

Nice job on the stabilizers.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

OK........I was just looking for some extra info on the Strong Arm Stabilizers, but you have peaked my interest to the point of driving me crazy about what's behind the cardboard.
Somebody please PM me and tell me what it is. The odds of me meeting any of you fine people on the road in the next 15 or so years is slim and none because retirement is not in my near future. I gotta Know!
Thanks,
Curt
