Lippert hyd problem on 2019 3120

Up until yesterday, all hydraulics performed flawlessly. Getting ready for an upcoming trip. Ran auto-level. Operation normal.
Ran main slides out. Operation normal.
Attempting to run slides back in later in the day and here is where trouble begins. ODS slide comes in normal as usual. When DS slide begins to move, pump motor continues to run but pump sounds weak and slide barely moves. Then motor continues to run but obvious pump not doing anything. I let off switch and wait maybe 10 seconds then try again to finish running slide in. Motor runs and pump is moving slide slower than normal. Eventually slide returns to full in position but pump never strains at end of stroke as it normally did before this happened.

I ran slides back out again. Operation normal. Tried to run back in and same situation occurs.

Went outside and tried to retract leveling jacks and same problem occurs with them as retracting the slides. Motor runs as normal but little power to retract cyclinders. Tried retracting front jacks. Same situation occurs.

I have tried all hydraulic operation several times this morning and trouble remains.

It seems there is no longer correct hydraulic pressure being created during all retract functions. The motor on pump will always run but pump does not always appear to create system pressure.

I am concerned slides and level jacks may not stay in their retract positions traveling or that I will not be able to retract at all.

Any hints, suggestions, or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert on this but I believe there are fittings near the pump outlet in which to attach a pressure gauge.

Have you checked your fluid level?

Were you hooked up to house or shore power or running on battery.

This is sounding like a bad reversing switch on the pump or maybe a loose connection on the switch. You have good voltage when extending the jacks or slides, but when the motor is reversed, it isn’t operating as well. Check all your connections at the pump, odds are you will find at least one loose connection.

Very much appreciate all responses.
Problem is happening on shore power. I haven’t tried on truck power or stand alone. Battery voltage never drops below 12.3 volts.
I have checked all electrical connection to the pump and all others even remotely associated.
I have checked all hydraulic fitting connections.
No loose connections found anywhere.
Fluid level in reservoir is at proper level.
I did put a DC amp-meter on the battery during operation. During any “extend” function the pump it will read 15-20 amps until the end of any cylinder stroke at which time it jumps up to over 40.

During any “retract” function, the pump pulls 6-12 amps until the cylinders come to the end of their travel at which time the pump drops down to under 2 amps and never does “strain”.

As new as your rig is, and with no obvious loose connections, a visit to the dealer is probably in your future. You might give Lippert a call and see what they recommend. There might be something different going on that they have a fix for.

Yep, guess that’s what I will be doing in the morning. Giving Lippert a call first and hoping for some phone help. I am really concerned that the slides and leveling system hydraulic doesn’t pressurize when fully retracted. Sure hope everything stays in proper position if I need to run it down the road.
Thanks Mr. Rohrmann for your input. I will post a resolution.

Lippert is very good to work with. You should at least know what the problem is after talking to them.

I have a 2017 Montana 3731FL. I it bought new February 2017. Well I had problems with the bed slide coming in after it was out. I had the RV at the Dealership that whole summer, they guess at everything trying this and that replacing parts that was not the problem. I could unscrew two hydraulic hoses and switch them around and the slide might go in. but this was a mess because of the fluid leaking out.

After most of the summer I told them that the hydraulic piston that moves the slide in and out had a leak because I could see that it was wet. they replace the piston and that fix my problem. I had to opened the belly to get a good look at the hydraulic that was working the slide.

When our rig was new, had similar problem that got fixed by replacing the bi- metal circuit breaker behind the battery with a heavier one. No problem since.

This happened to me, did a trouble diagnosis while lippert was on line, it ended up being the solenoid was bad, and that fixed my problem. Try reversing the wires and see it it works the other way.

I’d check connections on the dual polarity solenoid for pump motor and also Lippert has an easy test that may shed some further light.

I'm not sure if this is the place but I have a 2017montana3790rd and went to use it today and the lippert 6point let sling system quit working the slide outs worked but none of the jacks will extend it sounds like one of the valves just clicks and nothing happens and the furnace starts and stops and won't stay running and of course the warranty just ran out if anyone has any suggestions thanks chris

Do you have any hydraulic fluid?

My 2019 3790 RD just had some of the same issues. The two hydraulic slides and the 6 point leveling system did not work. Just clicking. After doing the diagnostics on the lippert site it was clear the motor for the hydraulic pump failed. RV tech confirmed and the motor is on order. Unfortunately this happened a week before I'm heading out on a 6 week trip. No chance to get the part in so I have to have the part shipped to another dealer in a town later in my trip. What a pain and I have only had the unit for 10 months. One of many issues I have had with this unit.
