Urgent. Low battery affecting AC
Hey guys
Our converter went out. Batteries low voltage and even though still hooked up to 50 amp the Air cond both shut off???
Also Waco converters
Should it have power on dc side immediately if plugged into 110?
Quality?

Jim you are a bit hard to follow here. It could be 12VDC is needed to control the AC.
Not clear what your second question is.

Your thermostat and AC control board are 12v, but so is the control board to your frig if you have an RV frig as well as other things. Your converter supplies power to the batteries and they in turn supply 12v power to the rig. If the converter is dead the connection between 110 and 12v is broken.

I would make sure the breaker feeding the converter has not tripped. If it has, reset it. If the converter has really died, you could get a battery charger and connect directly to the batteries until you fix the problem.

To offer encouragement...yeah you are hosed. No converter, no 12vdc to tell the ac electronics it needs to work. Should be no reason for converter reverse voltage fuses to be blown, but I would check then anyway assuming the wfco has these like the progressive power center. I would also check to make sure the 120vac breaker that feeds ac to the converter hasn't tripped. Good luck jim

I chased all the wiring out and voltmeter as I went to verify. Bought a new converter. All is well now. I knew the thermostats are low voltage just didn’t think about them using the converter
Slightly different from a S&B. Got it figured out now. Basically the Converter is just a high Amp on board battery charger....
Many thanks for all the reply’s
Is this a common problem?
Which brands are better/worse?

No it's not real common. We've been full timing for 8 years now and no one close to us has had it happen yet.
