2018 3120 RL NewBie Question 4
Fellow Rvers,
NewBie Question #4 - I have a 20K PullRite hitch installed using the puck system in my GMC. Do I need to apply grease to the hitch where it attaches to the king pin on the trailer. We pulled it home with no grease and it has scraped off some of the black paint from the top of hitch.
Best Regards,
John & Kelly

The scraping off of some of the paint is nor mule I use just a little bit white lube on the pin and a Lube Disc that you can buy at most RV stores.

Unlike all the truckers out there, most of us forego smearing grease all over the horizontal plate in lieu of a fifth wheel lube plate such as This.
You do want to lube the vertical pin where it contacts the hitch jaws. Any good chassis lube will do.

If your Pullrite is a slider, you use WD40 for the ways, and I also spray the plate before hitching up. The only places you use grease is the two pivot bolts, and those only occasionally. Again, if it is the slider, the pin does not rotate, so the WD40 is all you need.

Same here. WD 40 on everything since the capture plate will not allow the king pin to move on the hitch.

Be EXTREMELY careful if you go to a dealer to buy a lube plate. I went to our dealer in the Fall of 2011 to buy a new one and wound up ordering a new Montana to replace the 4 year old one we had! In all fairness to them they DID throw in a new lube plate when we took delivery of the new Montana.

NEVER EVER take DW to dealership when getting camper repaired. Twice now I have walked out with a different camper.
