TPMS-Good ones?
Doing a search through the forums, it looks like TPMS discussions have fallen off the radar for a while. So with getting our new Monty, what to look for in a TPMS system? And where to look for them? Looking on the net, there are tons out there, but which ones are quality built and WORK? Thanks and have a great day!

There are several good systems out there. We use the Pressure Pro system. Good so far. Had a bad power cable after first trip. Contacted supplier and had replacement within a couple of days. No problem since then. Sure nice to be able to read pressure while moving down the road. Good luck. Dennis

I have a pressure pro (3 years now) and I am very pleased with it. I have not used any others so can not comment on their performance.

I like the TST display. It saved me this last trip warning of a rapid leak, no blow out thank goodness.

We just got the replaceable battery model TST system, works good also. It saved us a tire the first time we used the system. Had a new tire mounted that had a slow leak at the newly installed metal valve stem. It went below the warning pressure about 50 miles down the road. The sensor didnot fit on the stem properly. The threads on the metal stem did not fit right, re-installed the high pressure stems and everything is good.
We had a sensor problem with one sensor [out of 6] at first, it was taken care of very quickly by the dealer.

About TST customer service- I received and installed my TST system about 3 weeks ago. Afer install I programmed and tested everything and it was working like a charm. I have not had the chance to hook up the trailer and go anywhere since then, but we are going this coming holiday weekend. Because of that upcoming trip I washed the trailer and truck this weekend and decided to turn on the TST system to make sure it was still working fine. To my surprise one of the trailer tires (right rear) is alarming at 15 psi. I had looked at the tires while washing the rig and everything looked fine, so I thought...must have a bad sensor. I went back to that tire and took the sensor off to check it with my tire gage. Sure enough, it read 15 PSI too! I guess the sensor is causing a slow leak through the valve stem (had always held air fine before the sensor install). I called the customer service number and they are sending me a new sensor no questions asked. I did not expect that I would have it before Friday afternoon when we leave for the camping trip and that would have been fine, but I told the young lady that we were leaving Friday for camping and she said she would send it "3 day" to make sure I get it before Friday (and I did not even ask!). Good customer service like that is hard to find. -Glenn

We first bought a Hawkshead and could never get it to work right so trashed it and went with TST. Very good unit and am very happy with it.

TST 507 system with the internal sensors. I waited to purchase my system until TST offered internals. Can't be stolen, can't cause a leak, fill tire normally, batteries last 7 years, accurate temp readings. If your TV has a factory TPMS it has internal sensors.

Another TST owner. Good features, including the user-replaceable batteries.

Pressure Pro System in use for four years. Has saved us twice when aluminum wheels cracked. Which system is best? That's in the eye of the beholder. All the systems do what they're designed to do.

Thanks to everyone. That at least gives me probably the 2 best options out there. Now to see what is available up here in the great wild north.

Chasnracin, please consider getting one with a temperature sensor too. Besides psi, monitoring temperature might warn you if the temp is getting too high (brake lockup). I suppose if there a way to look at all tire temps and if one temp is getting too low then this might mean the brakes are not working on that one tire, too.
Very clever devices, indeed. It's on my shopping list along with the other bazillion great gadgets I can't afford. What's the price for safety? Nothing, when you stay home a lot.
