Old Camper, New Camper

Hello Folks, DW Dawn and I, Doug, are the old campers and the 2014 3900 FB Monty is the (wonderful, wonderful) new camper. We are from Eastern Iowa and have been campers for a number of years (tent, cab-over, MH and 5th wheel)with the Monty being our second 5th wheel. I am retired and the DW still belongs to the working class, maybe another 5-6 years. To setup our 'profile' let me say, due to DW working we are weekend campers & boaters and therefore no even close to the camping life (full time or long time) that most of you folks participate in that are on this great forum.

Last winter I was bored and started to go to boat & RV shows, I went into a Montana 3900 FB on a Friday, took the wife to the show on Saturday and we had dreams of owning one all summer (all of our fellow campers got new RV's over the last couple years). Well long story short, we wheeled and dealed and brought our sweet Monty home August 10th. It was on the dealers lot so we didn't get to order all the things we wanted but it was so close that we had them add a few things and took it right off the lot, great dealer and it was a good buying experience.

We camped 3 times in it and each time was more and more enjoyable. Our most visited campground, and lake, is 39 miles away, so our travels are very close to home and on a 55 mph road, so we are far, far removed from the journeys that you folks take. We do spend several full weeks a year in the Monty, one being a yearly bike ride across Iowa that the DW rides on and I take care of getting the SAG Wagon (camper) from town to town, it's a great week and I can talk about it more if anyone is interested. But, for this year it is winterized and waiting till spring.

OK, got to get done here or you'll think I'm a blow heart! I do have some questions that I'll post later on the discussion forum. Thanks for the wonderful info, I've used several things from here, like torquing the u-bolts, looking into a IQ4 and several other things, again Thanks-a-Million. And, did I say how much we love our Monty!

Welcome aboard Doug and Dawn! Glad to have you join us on the best Forum in the www! If you have questions ask them! If you can answer someone else's question jump on in there and give us what you think! Watch for further announcements for the Central Plains Regional Rally to be held in July next year at Pine Grove RV Park and Campground on I-80 halfway between Omaha and Lincoln. We'd sure like to have you join us and you'll be able to meet some of those that post here on MOC. We've held the Rally for the four years now and this year will be our 5th Anniversary. We have a good time and it's a lot less formal than a lot of the others so it's easier to get to know everyone and enjoy their company along with getting to see some of the sights here in Eastern Nebraska too. Again, welcome aboard and hope to see you down the road in the coming years!

Thank you one and all for the sincere welcomes, much appreciated.

Hook - Since we have the same rigs I have some questions, would like to hear what you think, I'll post them on the discussion forum.

Packerfan - Thanks for the 'campfire' invite, hope it comes true someday.

KOLCB - Have not been to Clear Lake but have friends that go there and they really enjoy it.

Rondo & jpkelpe - Last year RAGRBRAI started in Council Bluffs, stayed at the casino campground (parking lot) but had elec. & water and for one night, it was just fine. Thanks for the rally invite, have to see what the schedule brings.
