New Montana Owner

Hello folks, After a horrendous experience with a Forest River Blue Ridge 5th wheel, our dealer worked with us and got us in a 2013 Montana 3100RL. We will hopefully take our 1st and last trip (cold is coming)for the year in two weeks. I can already tell the build quality and materials are better, we owned a Cougar travel trailer in the past. So hopefully, we will be happy campers once again!

PS...We owned the previous 5th wheel for 6 months, and actually got to use it for 21 days, it lived at the dealer the rest of the time....

Welcome! My husband (chieflawdawg) and I also have a 2013 3100! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! It took us a while to figure out how to travel with the island! Enjoy your new rig!

Congratulations on the new Montana. I believe you will really like it. One of the great things about it is that you found this forum. Lots of great people on here and the information keeps us all in check.

According to our dealer, you sandwich it between the recliners with a little piece of carpet on each corner. If you know a better way, I'm ready to learn.
The only thing I see I don't like is you must open a slide to get to the refrigerator. Makes it a little harder getting ready to go out. But we really like it and after what we've been thru, I'm ready to enjoy camping again.

We actually remove two of the dining chairs (ones next to window) and put it in there using thick vent cushions between it and the walls and then cover it with a thick comforter. We then take the two chairs and sit them between the table and sofa as the slides are closed. Works well except my wife (SouthernBelle) has to climb over the counter to get out. We are having a little problem with two of the wheels on the island locking when you try to roll it. Taking it in for some other warranty work and will let them look at that problem also. Have had ours about six months and are really enjoying all of the features. Hope you enjoy yours just as much.

You will like this place, the MOC has saved us no telling how much and we have spent no telling how much from what we have learned here. Oh, and the best is the new friends/family we have acquired though this forum.

As Chieflawdawg stated, we place the island between the table and wall. We did have the island between the two recliners but one chair bent the curtain hook. We have tried it between the couch and table, but the rug from the slide bunched up. Also, I found if you put the recliners back to back and place the coffee table under the side window in the back it fits perfect! Seriously, once you figure out where to place everything, it doesn't take long! It just took us a while to figure everything out! Hope this helps! Carla
