Dry-Erase Board for pictures...

My DW, who uses the desk area of our 3400, wanted to put pictures up on the wall to the right of the desk (where the TV cabinet is). One night, after I went to bed, she decided to put up cork board tiles. They lasted a while, but were not really suited to the task at hand - pinning up photographs, as the cork wasn't thick enough.

After much thought (whenever I am reluctant to take on a project due to inexperience, I like to think on it), I came up with the idea of using magnetic sheeting. Then, after more thinking, I thought that the strong magnetic field would create havoc with the HD TV. So, after more thinking, I came up with the idea of using Dry-Erase board - it is metallic and so magnets will be attracted to it.

After more thought and surfing, I found this link:

http://www.realtimedesigner.com/hypergen/mag_king.php Now, click on the Rubber Steel Sheeting button and scroll down to Rubber Steel Sheeting, part # A0179 for $69 per 10' roll.

At the store, I picked up a small box of manilla folders. With these, I made a template of the area to be covered in the rubber steel sheeting. I carefully laid the resultant template over the rubber steel sheeting and began to cut.

The rubber steel sheeting has a peel and stick backing, so it was just a matter of carefully peeling and sticking and voila! It was on the wall. To dress up the edges, I went to Michael's (no relation, darn!) and purchased some decorative tape.

Here's the result:

While at Michael's I bought a roll of peel and stick 1/2" wide magnets. My DW cuts the roll into 1/2" pieces and adheres the magnets to the back of the photo du jour.

BTW, it doesn't interfere with the TV or the wireless router.

That looks great, if you hadn't said otherwise, I would have thought you recruited Ozz to do some work on a rig besides his own!!!

Bingo -
I think if you check out some of the work Michael has done to his rig, you will see he could run a close competition to Ozz without any additional help!

Nice work Michael - and you just answered my question on what I am going to use to line the inner side of the basement door so I can display all my stickers and stuff while at the campsite. That way I won't ruin any of the door interior for the next owner.

Michael, very nice job, and the decorative tape on the edging sets it off very nice. By the way, how did you get that lamp to stick, it looks too heavy to use magnets (only kidding).
