How much does a hole in your roof cost?

Got a real eye opener when I went to pick up my fiver from my seasonal site! A 2.5" dia branch by 6' long penetrated my roof and ceiling headliner in the bedroom. Fortunately not much water got in due to the branch acted like a cork. The owner of the campground gave me some Flex tape, yep the stuff you see on TV. after cleaning the area and applying the tape I was surprised how well it worked! I took it to the shop and they couldn't get it off. Now comes the shocker, almost $10k to fix the roof! Glad I have insurance! They are replacing the whole roof system(1 piece TPO), the sheet of plywood with the hole in it, headliner and trim. I will buy some patch kits just in case!

Sounds like a jacked up number because they know the insurance company will beat the tar out of them

I agree. Sounds a little high. If you turn this quote over to your insurance company they will probably deny it and give you their estimate.

Yep that's what I thought until the adjuster came up with the same figures and no argument!

Since I am cheap, LOL I would see if your insurance co would just cut you a check and let you take care of it. I would deposit the check, cut the roof membrane open enough to screw down a piece of metal to the roof covering the hole. Fold the membrane back down and tape it up good with eternabond tape. Come up with some kind of fix for the bedroom ceiling (maybe a assess panel)
