Front Jacks
I am new to 5th wheeling and am just curious if anyone has had, or seen, the front hydraulic jacks collapse and drop the nose to the ground. Every time I see my trailer just sitting there on those two legs, I wonder what guarantees they won't give out.

Those jacks are rated at 12,000+ lbs each. So they are not puny little sticks holding up 3,000 lbs. of pin weight. It is possible for a hydraulic leak to allow the rams to retract (slowly) but even if both of them did, there is no chance of the front of the RV hitting the ground. The jacks themselves are long enough to keep the nose off the ground. You can prove this by hitting the "Auto Retract" function while NOT hooked up to the truck. Ask me how I know.

We have been full timing on them for about 6 1/2 years and never a problem or concern with them on 2 different Montanas.

Seeing 40’+ tag axle motorhomes sitting on jacks with their rear wheels off the ground shows how strong those jacks are.

Never run across anyone who has or experienced any issues ourselves.

Hi
If they collapse it will be because the Lippert frame failed. LOL

While on the topic, are all the jacks set so low they just look spooky?
I mean all 6 and especially the center and back. There are 8 bolt holes and 3 bolts per side. On our Monty the cylinders are mounted with 4 holes still unused toward the ground. Is this the normal setting or is this something else we get to redo.

That is the way they are installed, don't forget they are used in many applications.

There is no guarantee they won’t collapse. Any thing can break the wheels might fall off your truck but it isn’t likely. You need something else to worry about. This isn’t going to happen. Relax enjoy your camper.
