Retired, Canadian travel recommendations

Well, we finally made it. I retired last month after 31 years at the same company; wife retired two years ago. We are looking forward to taking some trips without time constraints.

We are trying to decide where to go after the Heber City rally in late June when we have 4-5 weeks before we need to be back in Idaho for a family reunion. We are thinking about heading to Canada to explore Banff National Park, Jasper National Park then over to the Fraser River valley before heading back south. Anyone have recommendations for this area of Alberta and BC?

Scott, We are doing the same this summer a little in front of the rally. We will be in Heber 6-12 Jun, Jackson Hole for a few days, Helena, a couple of days in Calgary and then a week at Jasper. We planned to do Jasper two years ago on our way to AK but got snowed out in late May. We plan to drive to Banff from Jasper but we are flexible and may move if it looks good and we can get a campsite. The Canada reservation site for parks was very helpful. Many of the campsites are not full hookups but we didn't have trouble finding 30 amp power and water. We are also set to boondock if required. Let us know if you decide to go and we will send you updates from the road.

Congrats on your retirement - I did it two years ago and it has been great.

Jasper Nat. Park has Whistler campground that is only about 10 miles from Jasper and has very nice camp sites with full hookups, I believe.
Also, in Banff Nat. Park the Tunnel Mountain campground (#2 I think) also has full hookups and is very nice. Get your reservation at Tunnel Mt well in advance as they fill up in the summer.
