looking for a new rig
Looking to buy a new Montana. Just sold a 2006 model 2980RL. We loved it. Looking to buy either a 3791RD or a 3711RL. Can anyone go directly to the factory and buy. Looking for the best deal just like everyone else. Thanks

When we went thru the Goshen facility years ago, the answer was no. Don't believe that has changed. The drill is to shop dealerships, as pricing can vary significantly.

The answer is no, but the internet will let you shop the country and find the best deal if you wish. Tiara RV in Elkhart has little in the way of transportation costs and some members have felt they got a good deal from them, but searching the internet is easy and fun.

Keystone won't even sell you parts directly...must go through a dealer for anything.

I almost have to force my finger to type this recommendation, but here goes......Lazy Days RV just outside of Tampa is suppose to be the largest RV dealer in the U.S. I don't think I could have gotten our 2014 3725RL any cheaper. The downside IMHO is that their service is horrible.

Hello, When we were shopping, I used the internet and local (200 miles) dealerships for looking at floor plans. We settled on a floor plan and then got serious about pricing.
My local/close/30 miles is Camping World, they were not interested in ordering me something, only selling from inventory. Next, a 200 mile away dealership, had a floorplan in stock, quoted me a price, but when I got there, "O'h that washer was not included in the price" "swapping the recliners, that will be extra".
That meant we had to go on the road. We ended up buying 700 miles away, got a good price but that is all.
The PDI was a absolute joke, the entrance door had a 1" gap at the top. The install of the W/D was neat and clean, however they stuck the drain hose in so far it siphoned the water out of the drum, they never hooked it up to water, thus they did not find the toilet would not hold water, they installed the Mor/ryde X factor braces, the longer wet bolts were installed dry and they would not take grease, the closet doors fell off on the way home.
We turned the 700 (one way) mile trip into a road trip to see friends close to the dealership and from there home.
Being handy, I was able to fix the problems as they appeared. A friend has bought 3 5th's from the local CW. His service experience has been so-so and lately has been terrible.
If shopping ONLY on price, or shopping on a good dealership that will be there for you, you will probably find they are not the same place.
You just need to decide how important the dealership is, how much money can you save by driving a bit. The items such as frig, A/C, furnace, water heater, converter, etc. are covered by their own warranties and any RV shop or mobile tech can warranty those items.
I had my rear A/C loose a board, fixed by a mobile tech in Colorado, Furnace issues, fixed by a mobile tech in S.Texas. Most of the other stuff I fixed my self. Easier and cheaper than dragging it to a dealership and letting them try and fix something. Waiting a week or 2 for authorization and then a week or 2 for parts.
Is the best deal for you the least money spent, or is the best deal for you to buy from a dealership where they appreciate your business, have folks that care for you and have people that can actually fix a problem and not screw something else up?
Happy shopping,
Jim

We did searches online and around the state then ended up driving to Ringgold VA - RV Outlet beat all the prices by almost $8000. Well worth the trip. Check out their website rv007.com. Great family owned business and very helpful over the phone prior to the purchase. We stayed at a campsite near them overnight to check everything out. It was well worth the trip.

We faced the same dilema this year. Remember, RV's aren't like cars. Non selling dealers don't like to service. With that in mind, we got quotes from our local dealer in Colorado and a dealer in Iowa. The difference was more than a few thousand - my price differential to buy locally. So, we purchased from 500 miles away based on recommendations from MOC friends. We have had a few issues - some self inflicted. They have been super on service s well as a better price. Good luck.

I have had no issues with service from dealers across the country. I never had any service at dealership in Texas where I bought my rig. In fact Keystone has called ahead for me, when I needed service. I buy cars, etc outside of where I live. Best price is high on my list. Never had a single problem with warranty work etc. But I am a super nice guy!!!

The Ringold RV Outlet and Walnut Ridge RV in New Castle Indiana were the 2 cheapest dealers on pricing, we went with Walnut Ridge as it was a lot closer to our home. They were pretty good to work with and so far we have not needed any warranty work done so I cannot speak for their service department.

Found our best deal at www.funrving.com. They are in Chelsea Michigan. Can't tell you about service, we live 750 miles from there. We saved $8k over everyone else, don't know about their service dept or anyone else's, I have done my own repairs so far. If you talk with someone there ask for joe.

RV Outlet USA in Ringgold,VA. We found our best price there a couple of years ago on a 3455SA. We traveled from British Columbia to go and pick it up. Whirlwind of a trip but well worth it!

We checked out 3 Montana dealers none closer than 5 hrs from home. Bought from Pete's RV in VT. They are also in Indiana. Best price by a huge margin. Treated us great thru the whole process! Highly recommend Pete's RV!!!
They deliver for a very reasonable charge as well.

We found our Big Sky online at Northgate RV in Ringgold, GA. At the time we lived in Arkansas. They are excellent for both sales and service. Would buy from them again. We now live in FL about 35 miles from Lazy Days. Wouldn't buy there.

I'm sure things have changed in the 7 years that I bought our 2008 3400RL. I called ,and got online with several, several Montana dealers around the country back in late 2007, and Walnut Ridge actually quoted me the best price. They were great to deal with considering we were 1600 miles from them. It turned out to be a great buying experience. We actually went back to Indiana to get it.

Hi Pat & John, I would suggest Ansley Rv Local: (814) 695-9817

Fax: (814) 695-9814
Email: sales@ansleyrv.com

We had a very good sales and initial service earlier this year. We first did our home work then drove out to the factory and had a factory tour and saw our model.

We've had good luck with Town & Country RV in Clyde, Ohio. Shop around and get your answers from the MOC forum. The RV sales force tends to be the least informed about the product they are selling.
