Quality Issues

We bought our second Montana because we were convinced of its value relative to the competition and price point. That, however, makes "little things" more disappointing.

First, the vent covers that came on our '07 3500RL (Mfgd 04/1807) were thin as parchment and resilient as poor glass. All three in the bedroom/bathroom area broke within the first few thousand miles of towing. (Our oldest "new" one has lasted a year, and nearly 8,000 miles.)

Second, the first extinguishers are positively unsafe in the contex of use in a small living area. How long will they last when used? Four seconds?

Both of these need an upgrade which you may have already addressed. In general, "going cheap" on essential items is not becoming a quality product such as Montana.

Thanks for your consideration.

I understand your statement and plan on upgrading the extinguisher. I had a nice talk with Aram at Gettysburg this year and our discussion open my eyes from a manufacture point of view.
The existing extinguisher meets "CODE". If he added all the extra nice to have items the cost goes up greatly. Do we want to pay the extra up front and find some of the extras are not on our critical list?
It has been said before that Montana's are the best bang for the buck. This may be some ways they keep that status.
Ref the vent covers, were you towing with them open?
I know this post may sound argumentative, but it is not intended to be that way. It is just trying to surface the other side of the discussion.

As far as a fire ext is how many stick houses have it just inside the ft door , you would have been just hurt to see it in the front entrance much less in the rear entrance , they put them in a closet in the kit or down in the basement next to the furnance so you are burned up to get to it ,, if you want a bigger fire ex where would you put it , in the back seat of the truck , there is no truck or car with a ext in it only boats and they are a joke in size and placement ,, how many fires have we had in rvs compared to houses???????
all business must have fire ext but they are the same size as in the 5th wheel,, so be it sailer
