Using Google Earth to Find RV Parks
I just started using Google Earth to find RV Parks. I find that it works very well with links to RV Parks Reviews and a view of the actual park. Also confirms Lat-Lon for park locations. Anyone else using it--any suggestions?

I do use it and like it. I can see the locations of many RV Parks at the same time and check out the ones we want to.

We love Google Earth! We usually put a pin and label the campgrounds with name and dates we have visited there. A handy feature that we like. Also can do that with other points of interest as you move from place to place.

We use it to "fly" certain routes before we drive them. Especially useful in the mountains when you want to get a look at elevations and curves in the road for some of the passes. Also great for pre exploring roads in more remote areas.

I use it all the time, especially if we are going somewhere that doesn't have an address but shows just a map. I will cross reference it with Google Earth and then plug the coordinates into my Garmin Nuvi. I also use it to set up a Geocaching Route while traveling. Great tool and I will also mark a lot of spots.

I'm also predominantly a Binger, but I have used other map programs, including Google Earth. They all do pretty much the same thing with just a slightly different view. In my opinion you can't have to many views.

I can't see what the fuss is all about with Google Earth. I looked at several of my favorite campgrounds, and every time I tried to get close in enough to make out any land marks, the pictures were just blurs. Totally worthless, IMHO.

Different areas of the country have different resolution images. Generally the more highly populated areas seem to have the higher resolution. So some campgrounds might show up really good and others might not. Generally, most of the online mapping sites are using the same image sources but I do switch from one to the other sometimes just to check.

If google earth resolution is not very good for a specific location, you can use google maps street view to get a good ground level look at the roadway and entrance to RV parks, service stations, and such. Street view will almost always give a better view of the highways/streets and such. Also google maps aerial view or mapquest aerial view will sometimes give a sharper overhead view than google earth. Use them all.

Tim and Susan,
We use the various mapping programs to take a look at the parks. We used them on our way to the Spring Kerrville Rally in Texas. I like the fact that you can actually see the parks.
