Moving power connection from the rear to mid-trailer

That is an EXREAMLY dangerous situation that you have created. Having hot male lugs can and will hurt/kill someone. Your really need to install at least a manual transfer switch to chose between the 2 connection points so there is no possibility of them both being hot at the same time.

What if the door to the unused connection point (that is HOT ) is opened up by a child and they are electrocuted. Can you live with that ?

You WILL need a transfer switch either automatic or manual. It’s very dangerous not to have one. Dangerous for you and everyone who might not know that the other receptacle is hot. You do not wont someone to get into 50 amps of power especially when the ground might be wet. People here are always worried about being sued. This will get you sued and they or their family will win.

Hi,
I installed a side or mid shore power connector years ago.

Buy a 50amp Bulkhead entrance, $20.00 on Amazon.
Get a length of heavy gauge wire from H.D. or Lowes.
Get a twin 50amp breaker. Not all a/c busses are the same.

I ran my wire from new receptical across shortage area and through the wall into back of A/C panel. On my unit shore power comes into existing 50amp paired breakers (1 set, one breaker on each 120vac line) and through the breakers into the a/c buss. I put a new breaker set on the other end of the buss. This allows for use as needed, rear or side. For complete safety turn OFF the unused breaker. This prevents any accidental a/c issues with the unused receptical.

After adding our Freedom Hauler we have encountered this issue a couple of times now as well. Decided I am going to add an additional ATS and a 120/240 plug in the front of the coach. This will allow us options depending upon where the SP pedestal is located for the specific site.should be easy install with about a total of 12' of 6/4 SOW cable and moving two existing connections within reach of each other.

Installed a 4-pole/double throw blade switch. Now I can have power to the side or rear plug.
