MotoSat TV Dish

I have a Motosat Automatic roof top satellite dish on my fiver with Dish Network as my program provider. I have been having touble locking in on a satelite to get my programs. I called Motosat tech support and was told that Dish Network has done a software change and certain models of the MD 500 have to be upgraded. They are sending me a module to plug into the back of the Nomad contoller that will upgrade my software version. I will have to pay a minimal shipping charge to get it and they will pay the return charges. My unit has worked flawlessly for the past 5 1/2 months that we have been on the road. It started acting up in the last couple of weeks.
I don't know if this change by Dish also affects Winegard Auto Dish units.

Dee,

Why don't you get the serial cable? This way, you can download updated firmware from their website and upload to your Nomad II. We have DISH with an MD500 and a while back (last year) we had to update the firmware. Can't remember what I paid for it (got it direct from MotoSat), but think it was less than $20.

Mike/Kathy,
Are you saying I can use a serial cable from my PC to the Nomad controller and download the software upgrade or will I need a special cable from MotoSat?

You have to get the cable from MotoSat. What did you hear about Dish making changes? I'm having problems, here in Oklahoma City. Just got in.

Okay, just downloaded and installed Nomad 2 version 33.6a - all is good, now.

On edit: After a little more research, I found the following:

Dish Network has Changed codes on Satellite 110. New software is available now v33.6. You can download it off our Website or Have Customers/ Dealers call in and order the serial cables or Modules. Due to the high volume of customers needing this update we are on back order on the Modules so the cable will be the best bet for a quick fix if they have a computer and a serial port or adapter cable.

If you have any questions regarding this please contact Technical support at 1-800-247-7486
I also read that the modules *may* not work with 33.6a, and that Vista users are having problems upgrading, as well.
