New Montana 5th wheel weight ratings. 2955RL

Howdy:

We are in love with the above rig but are really confused about the UVW rating. (extremely important, yes?) THe Brochure indicates that its weight is 9380 lbs with the notation that it is "Calculated as base unit with standard equipment only.

On the back of the brochure, it lists "standard features" along with "Optional Features: Almost everything on the rig we are looking at has most of the listed options. (15K A/c, awning, table and chairs, hide a bed sofa, stove, micro/convec. oven, and so on. Estimating the weights of all the "options" along with 1/2 tank of fresh water, I have maybe 200 lbs for food, other equipment and clothing that I can carry. This can't be right! Am I reading the broucher wrong?

The salesman says the brochure is not right and that the weight of the rig posted in the rig is the actual weight from the factory and includes everything that they installed there such as awning, AC, Tv's, etc. etc.. , about 9820 lbs.

What's the truth? Will my new Silverado 2500 HD D/A handle this trailer?

Would greatly appreciate anyones comments.

Thanks,

Phil

Welcome to the site. I'm sure someone with more experience with your paticular trailer will come along shortly. But, I would guess the D/A combo will handle it jst fine.

Welcome Phil to the MOC family.

Your choice of the 2955RL is an excellant choice as is your tow vehicle for as you can see by my signature that's my rig and YES the 2500HD D/A is more than capable.

The weights found on the sticker on the outside left front corner of the trailer are the weights of the base unit without any options. Look inside the cabinet door above the kitchen counter. This tag will give you the weight, with all the options, of your unit as it left the plant. The weight of any options later added by the dealer IS NOT included on this tag.

We're towing the 2980RL with a D/A 2500HD and it works just fine. The 2955 weighs a little less and the pin weight is quite a bit less. You should have no problem. Good Luck and Enjoy!

My experience is exactly the same as Glenn's above. In fact, I feel we have excess towing capacity--which is always to be desired.

Went out and checked mine - GVWR=12140 - Min UVW=9680 - Minus 60 gal freshwater=500 - Minus propane=60 - Cargo capacity=1900.

Forgot to add that the weight stickers say that any dealer installed stuff is not included in the weight ratings. I took out the two rear chairs so gained rating with mine....
