I think the trick in moving them with the pan is to use the pan to move it - don't try by pushing on the chair itself. Pushing on the chair causes uneven pressure on the pan, making it dig in like the rings on the bottom of the chairs do. Grabbing the pan (on member posted that he had made an aluminum handle to do this with) should make them slide much easier.

C214dick, No wax residue on carpet. You polish it off like you would your vehicle.
Tom.S pushing lower on the chairs or even the pans as you mentioned does make it effortless.

If it is still too difficult, we can try helium balloons or a portable engine lift next.

Better yet, bring a weight lifter with but if I did that Louise would make me stay home LOL

Did same thing with plywood and furniture slids works great.
