Yepper, Lowe's, cost about $38.00, and it is quiet (unlike the TWO OEM's we had)

Replaced 2 years ago, but others have done the same since then.

Have fun shoppin!

Same as Carol....at Lowe's. We spent a tad bit more money, about $85 and bought a five blade Hunter. Have only had good experiences with the Hunter fans.

I think what Al did was measure the span of the OEM and we found one that was very close. Do the OEM's have 3 blades?? I think we got 4 blades. Think there are 2 sides to the blades, 2 colors, one of them, surely do not remember what they called it, but we feel it looks good and matches well to the cabinetry of Tana.

Ypu should be okay with any 42" to 52" flush mount ceiling fan that can be bought at any Home improvement store. Price depends on which company you choose and how big of a fan you get.

Just watch where your slides come in relation to the fan blades. That limited us to the same size as the OEM. Different models, different sizes??

We haven't replaced ours - it is great. No noise, no rattle. We have them in every room in our stick house and the patio. We found a long time ago you have to spend a little more to get a really good one.

Actually our factory fan works great but, I went to Lowes and purchased a clear glass globe to replace the milk colored one. Patti had me install the longer chains so she could REACH them. The glass globe was around $4 bucks.

We put longer chains on also - we did in our stick house as well. One time the longer chain caught a little bit on the slide when pulling it out and turned on the fan. Didn't cause a problem and we finally figured it was a one time thing as it has never happened again. It must of bounced up over the edge.

My ceiling fan from the factory works well also. Some times I will have to retighten the screws that hold the blades on.when I bring in my living room slide the blades just miss that slide by less then an inch I bet.But is it nice to know that I can replace that fan with a home improvement ceiling fan at some point.

We replaced ours also with one from Home Depot. It has a remote control because I could not reach the chains on the OEM. It was noisy and didn't move enough air. This one is bigger, much nicer, and I can also dim the light with the remote control. Every thing clears just fine when we bring the slide outs in.

Nice job!

The fan on our 2003 was a good one. No noise at all. Never. The one on this Montana has a bit of a thrumm to it, however. I'll see if anything is loose, then ask for a warranty replacement. If that one is bad then we'll just replace with one we buy. We also put longer chains on ours but just maybe six inches. Sue, we'll watch for action with the slides. I never thought about that.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Ours works just fine. When I need to pull the chain I just grab a kitchen tongue (did I spell this right?) and I can reach it just fine. I once had a problem in a different RV with the chains wrapping around the blade.

Helen,

You can buy little do dads to go at the end of the fan chains, they come in a number of different attractive designs. Mine is a crystal looking teddy bear, kinda heavy, keeps the chain where it belongs, found at walley world for just a few dollars.

But your kitchen tong (not sure that is spelled right either! HA HA) idea is a good one! I use them sometimes to get stuff out of the top cabinets, if what I want is not too heavy and I am too lazy to go find my little stool!

Cheers, Carol
