NASTY! Looks like the spring retainer in the wire nut is still on the wire. It was the Black, 'hot' wire, they will overheat when not tight, loose connection=burned wires. Where was the connection? I would have thought it would have been on one of their crummy cheap outlets with the push-in wire system, but it looks like a different connection.
You can bet when you let us know, we will be all over that on ours!
