Over Microwave Oven Cabinet Door Fix

We have owned our 2016 3160 RL Legacy for 6 months now and one of the issues we have had is the cabinet door over the microwave opening while we are traveling. We discovered that items fall out and wedge themselves or get caught under the oven/fridge slide out. We even had a small bottle of cooking oil roll out and unfortunately it got caught under the slide. That was a bit of a mess to clean up. The other issue is that this cabinet door is hinged on the top, so you have to lift up to open it and you have to hold it up if you want to remove any items from the cabinet.

To fix this problem, I ordered two small 8 inch cabinet pistons from Amazon. Added two small blocks of wood and air nailed them in to hold the bottom piston support. The door now stays closed, and stays open when the cabinet door is lifted. My other half is now very happy with the fix. Here are some pictures of the install. It took about 30 minutes to complete the job.

Nice looking work. a number of us have done something similar over the years. Apparently Keystone can't get pistons as cheaply as we do

Nice job, do you have a link or information on the Pistons you used? I and I'm sure others would like to follow suit. TIA

I was in ours today installing shelf liners and thinking
the very same thing for that cabinet door.

Good looking work.

Cabinet door struts

Our previous RV (2017 Keystone Laredo 330RL) had 6 cabinet doors that opened up like this. It was a royal PITA. We were spending July 4 2017 week at Port Aransas Tx and one afternoon I went to the local RV parts store and bought the struts below and installed them in a couple of hours (1 strut per door). Made all the difference in the world. It was baffling to us why keystone would even NOT install these struts on cabinet doors like this in the factory...it would add maybe $50 to the MSRP. I think they came in packs of 2 for $6.50 which is about the same as this amazon screen shot.
