New Issues

First weekend out with our new fiver. I’m hoping I can fix these issue rather than go to the dealer. The kitchen sink faucet leaks. It seems like an inferior item. Would it be feasible to replace it with a faucet from the big box store? The hot water tank doesn’t seem to work on electric, was I impatient, or does it take a while to heat up compared to propane? I figured out that I don’t have a heat pump because I don’t see a see it on the thermostat. Other than a chilly, rainy weekend, things are going smoothly.

That is strange that there is no heat pump. Scroll thru your thermostat and there is not a heat pump?? Yes.......takes a lot longer on electric vs. propane for water heater. Once mine is hot.....we never run out of hot water .

I agree If we are taking extra long showers I turn on propane with electric otherwise we never run out on just electric alone. Ours is not called heat pump but it is the position right below furnace.

For electric water heater both the switch in the inside electric panel and the switch outside under the hot water heater cover must be on.

You can replace the faucet with a good one. I did and lots of others have also. Go for it.

Yes you can replace that faucet. And yes they use inferior plumbing fixtures (every builder in the industry does). Use them till they fail and replace with quality fixture (at least the holes in the sinks are standard plumbing sized.

Yes the electric water heat is a lot slower than gas. We leave electric on all the time while camping and supplement with gas when we take showers or for quick initial heat up. You might verify that the outside switch on the tank is on if so equipped.

Don't know your specific model but if it has dual A/C units and dual thermostats you will likely find that only one has heat pump.

You can upgrade to a really good fauset from HD\Lowe's you mite need to get a coppull of adapters to hook up the water lines but it's the only way to go. That year Montana doesn't have a switch on the water heater it just takes a long time on Ele. Turn on gas & Ele to get it Hot then you can turn of the gas. We turn on gas & Ele when we take shower for faster recovery like every on saids. You should have a heat pump scroll the the T\Stat
on the main heater you should find it.

Bob,

My 18 has a switch on the water heater. Is it just specific models that do not?

Resolving New Issues

Good call on the water heater switch. It was off. I'll test it again this weekend. Thank you all for your helpful advice. I'll make plans to shop the big box stores for new faucets when the time comes.

Your heat pump will be located in the A/C unit that is the tallest of the 2 units you have/if it is so equipped with a heat pump. Mine is located in the rear over our kitchen.
