A utility pole, insurance and repairs

It finally happened. Four o'clock in the morning and a couple of seconds of not being fully aware of the surroundings in the dark of morning. The end result was side-swiping a utility pole at the end of our street when we were leaving for Thanksgiving vacation last fall. Although the damage was limited, the total repair bill came to about $7500!! We elected to use the services of Camping World of Akron (formerly SirpillarRV) since they have a paint shop on site. We are totally pleased with the repairs, totally pleased with Progressive Insurance since we had disappearing deductible of $0 and large accident forgiveness so there have been no change in rates, and are now ready for the upcoming camping season! For those who may be interested, here are a few photos of the process. First, the accident results:

Notice that we were fortunate that the awning and awning cover took the brunt of the damage, but there was still damage to the fender, the entertainment center compartment as well as the immediate surrounding area:

The rig was delivered to Camping World of Akron a week or so before Christmas and the repair process was sent to me via photos (a nice customer oriented approach!!). First were the replacement parts:

Followed by the painting of the repaired areas:

We made the trip to Akron yesterday and our Montana is now resting comfortably back in the mini-storage lot. The repairs were excellent and impressive!!

Sorry for the lengthy post, but the process was interesting. Many, many kudos to Camping World of Akron for a fantastic repair job!!

Bingo

So glad to learn it went well, and can relate as we had a similar good-ending experience with Farm Bureau of about $5K in damage last spring from a Micro Burst Down Draft in Amarillo, TX. Thanks for sharing the photos, the rig looks great.

Nothing fixes a boo-boo quite like a good repair experience. Camping World of Northern Michigan has treated us well also. Glad to see the rig back to tip-top shape.

Bingo

There are 2 kinds of drivers out there, those that have and those that are going to. LOL

That is a fantastic repair.

We know that dealership as we are about 1 hour from them. They do have a excellent body shop.

Bingo-- Funny how those power poles have a tendency to move closer to the rig as you're either pulling out or pulling in. Glad everything has turned out for the better. They did an excellent job on the rig.

It just goes to show how a moment of not paying attention can bite you. I have pulled out of the same intersection many, many times. One moment of not paying attention in the dark (and the black rig did not help), and kaboom! It all turned out to be good and reinforced to me that blessings come at the most inopportune times!!

Good to hear that Progressive stepped up to the plate and did what they promised. We have been happy with them but have not had any claims either. Makes me feel better about staying with them for all of our coverages.

Bingo, I can relate, last summer when the fuel island pump pipe that protects the cleaning supplies jumped out and got me up by St.Louis, Mo. Ripped it up pretty good. Looks like they did you a good job. I traded and took the hit. This was in June and as of December they ( CW ) still did not have it repaired.
Glad you got a good job done.

Glad you had a good experience with CW. Your rig looks great!
Our CW sucks. They took us for $1700 and never fixed the problem after holding it hostage for 3 months. We have written them off and will never darken their door again.
