Cancellation of 5th Wheel Insurance
Happy New Roads,
Just bought a 2018 3790RD Montana. We have been insured by Foremost for the last 4 years. Previously, insured by Good Sam and have been a full timer for 12 years. No claims on any of our rigs (4). Purchased the new rig and called Foremost to change the VIN number on our policy. When I answered the question as to full timer, I was informed that because we work six (6) months out of the year the policy would not be renewed. Never received a solid reason, just the statement that because we lived in the RV park we maintain, the company could not continue to insure our rig (residence). End of discussion.
Any other working full timers out there that have had a similar problem.
Thanks for your reply.

Currently we are with State Farm, before that Allstate, before that Geico. They all go up on you're signed on. Seems that one has to run comparisons every three years to keep rates low.

Previously with Progressive on a motorhome because I was allowed to pay for the entire year and put it out of mind for 12 months. Turned down GEICO because they had to recalculate my auto/home policies and required the the monthly payment or 6 months worth for all. I asked them to separate the RV and they said No. Well, I'm back to GEICO with Fiver and an average of 40 to 45 dollar monthly increase. They did an inflation increase of $20 this last go around, pretty much on the combined vehicles. Not Happy!

i've been with Allstate for over 30 years. I had one claim with them for hitting a deer and they did not even send an adjuster. Had me take it to the shop of my choice, took their estimate and paid the claim.

Allstate often takes care of their clients well. It is payments to others where they suck.
In August a woman rear ended my truck and ran. The vehicle was found with a different driver. Knowing how they hate paying others I had my company take care of my truck. They recovered the deductible as well. However, the rental I had to submit a claim for ~ 3 times. Only $464.84 and they did not want to pay, not even when I threatened small claims court. Three weeks ago they were informed I was going to have my attorney take care of it on principle even if it cost me more than the claim. Last week they assured me I'd have the check this week ~~ not as of yesterday.
Allstate is a huge insurer, but not the biggest. Yet they have the most court cases as they do not like to pay claims. I've been told even a small dent if the other has insurance ~~ head to the doctor as they will pay quicker to eliminate/curtail medical claims

Try Progressive they are very good have had them for years and being a Military Family we get an extra little savings but they are easy to deal with and process fairly quickly when you need them.

Careful with Allstate, they told me they didn't do full coverage on trailers only for towing. This would have been nice to know since my previous trailer that i thought was covered actually was not and they didn't disclose that until I bought my 5er and pressed them about full coverage. On my renewal they forgot to put one of my vehicles on the policy and I was driving around without insurance until I discovered it! They said it got stuck in their computer, lame excuse they should have double checked.

I will not be renewing with National General when it comes up in a couple of weeks.
After first year, they "offered" to renew at a 35% increase. Their customer service is also bad. I tried calling them to discuss, but was on hold for 20+ minutes without talking to anyone. It took me four calls to finally talk to someone.

I have been with Farmers for many years. It may cost a little more than some but you get what you pay for. I ask questions about the coverage and do I have enough. Not about the money as it's about the coverage. i pay about $213 a month for a 12 SHO, 15 F250 and my 03 Monty. My agent treats me pretty good. I also have factory replacement parts coverage for my truck.
