trailer tires again
I have a 2006 3500 rl with the 235-80/16 Missions on it. When I bought the trailer it had been sitting for several months and two of the tires were low on air. I don't trust them for our first trip even though it will be less than a mile trip.
So I was going to go with Michelin ribs 235/85/16e but now I am not certain that they will fit. Is anybody running them on their 3500?

bolinski, when Keystone replaced my axles and tires, my unit came with 80s but they sent 85s. When we mounted one and set it beside one that was not broke down yet. There was approximately 1 inch difference in height.
Since the tires were changed we have been to the west coast from Ohio and everything went well. I'm not a professional tire guy, but I would not have a problem doing the change again, especially to the Michelin!
And to answer the fit question, yes they did fit.

I am a little concerned about the separation between the tires on same side of trailer. Also concerned about the load rating of 3042 lbs. How is the load calculated on the traile weight? The specs for my 3500 rl say its unloaded weight is about 12k. I know that I should weigh the trailer once loaded but I want to get new tires before I hit the road. If the rating means 3042 lbs per tire and I have 12000 lbs unloaded that leaves no room for loading? I have 7,000 lb axles.
Sorry for the dumb questions.
I can remove my fenders easily if there is a side rubbing problem so I am not worried about that and there is a 4" height clearance right now with the 235 80 16 mission tires on it now, so I don't think there will be a height problem.
The current trailer tires have been sitting unused for about 4 months before I bought the trailer and 2 of the tires were low on air so I definately need to replace them-right?

bolinski,
The Michelin LT235/85R16 will fit just fine, and leave enough space between the tires. At 3042 lbs, they will be sufficient to carry the load, as part of that 12000 lbs is pin weight.

bolinski, part of that total trailer weight will be on the hitch pin. For example, My total weight was 15000, but only 11,800 of that was on the railer wheels, the rest was pin weight.
