Alamagordo to Artesia US82 travel

Has anyone traveled this road with their 5th wheel in tow. It appears to go through the mountains and I am looking for a way into Texas from Las Cruces without going through El Paso. I, like many of you, need 13'4" clearance. It looks like US380 through Ruidoso has clearance/tunnel issues.
