Ed.. Diamond plate is on our option list but it is super expensive. LinX is another option.I am going to see if we can have the paint removed without damage to the gel coat under the paint. Note that it appears that the front panel is no longer painted on the new models.
Artemus.. You are 100% correct.Did some Goggling on Ohio State lemon law and I have no chance. We do understand the reality of Rv ownership and I post reality here. My list was not to describe serious issues but the reality of ownership. There are many here that have the " don't tell me anything I do not want to hear" mind set and that is just fine.
We are hooked up and ready to go.

I hear you and you are correct. I had a 10k problem that was a result of poor workmanship. Entire slide was replaced along with exterior components. In my case it was repaired to my satisfaction. That said it was a manufactureing mistake plain and simple. Thanks Rich you are a gentleman !

Rich, for removing the paint from the gel coat, there is a product called Captain Lee,s paint stripper, it is used to remove the paint from fiberglass boats and Corvettes, sold on line only, it is not a paint remover like you buy for home use at the home center, this is for exactly what your wanting to do, I have used it on a Corvette, they say spray it on with a plastic spray bottle, if that is the way you want to go, use a paint brush, mask off the areas with plastic sheeting you don't want to remove, do a small section to make sure it doesn't effect the fiberglass, use a plastic paint scrapper to remove, it's ease to use and when your done just polish the gel coat and your done, best of luck, you have had your problems for sure

Thank you, thank you..I will look it up and ask around.Plenty lof boats here on the shores of lake Erie.

Checked on removing the paint. It would be far to expensive to have that done and I do not trust myself to do it. The best option seems to be rhino coating. Just have to find a shop that has room for a 40 foot Montana to do the job.

It is not so much that they can't get it inside it is that it is 40 feet long and the shops around here are small and there is no place to park the Montana. We are working on it.

Rich, does the Rhino coating come in a variety of colors, something that would match up to the Montana.

Richfaa, on the struts pulling loose from the compartment doors: I posted what I did a while back and it seems to be "the fix" if you want something that looks good and works. What I did was take off the strut plates that are held in place with seven screws after having disconnected the struts. I use 3M5200 applied to the back of the plates about 1/4 inch thick. Then I put it back them back in place using only a couple of the old screws BUT not compressing the plates. This is to allow the 3M5200 to bond the plate to the door and leave a bit of the 3M5200 behind so it can dry in this manner. When dry, I then took out the old screws used to hold the plates in place and put in new screws the next size up...from 8/32 to 10/32 in all 7 holes and tighten. Did this on all three compartment doors on my 3800 and they are still held tight with no movement today. This is the way it should have been done to start with by the factory. John

We did something very similar. We used gorilla glue and added some screws. It is holding so far. keystones fix as we noted at the fall rally was to glue the plate .The primary case of the plate failure in our case was the [plate was not installed correctly. It was not squared to the door and the stress caused it to pull out. The ones that were correctly installed have not failed.

Rhino coat comes in a verity of color. In fact there is a gray that is very close to the gray paint as seen on the photo.

My repair with nothing more than a dollars worth of screws is still holding strong. Epoxy with original screws failed me in short order. #12 sheet metal screws have held well.

The struts that failed were not properly installed. They were not aligned properly and causing stress on the brackets. the struts that were properly installed have not failed.
