A lot of MOC's have come up with different ideas. I carry three surf rods in the basement cargo area. I took two stips of velcro and attached it to the frame work
in the ceiling section. One strip for the front and the other in the back for each pole. 1.Drill a small hole where you want the strip to be placed. 2.take a
round washer and a sheet metal screw and with the velcro strip over the hole, screw the sheet metal screw/washer into the hole. 3. Put the pole up to the velcro and attach. With long poles like I have (they pull apart/break down)I put both sections together. The pole is up and out of the way of rest of the equipment. You
can also use different type of hooks etc. Just don't use glue or some type of stick on as these will not last and will fall off the beams sooner or later.

I bought a set the Berkley Twist Lock Rod Racks and mounted them with self tapping screws to the aluminum studs that run along the top of the storage area. They are working pretty good so far.

Cup hooks screwed into wood between aluminum studs across top of basement. Parachute chord loops around rods and over hooks, works great.

I took fishing trips to Canada a couple of times with friends, and the last leg of the trip was a flight in a bumpy little plane to a fishing lake. We used 4-inch PVC pipes, cut jigs out of foam to hold the poles steady in the pipes, put a cap on one end and a screw-on fitting on the other. Those pipes took a beating in the back of the plane, but our rods made the trip without damage.

I used a 6 inch PVC pipe with screw on caps on the ends-stores in the
storage area on my sewer pipe holder.I can store about 5/6 poles in the
pipe.
My sewer pipe hold is a pipe holder used to keep drain pipe off the ground when buried-found this at Home Depot.

I went to Lowe's and picked up two sections of rain gutter (fully enclosed type) of plastic construction. I cut them to lenght and each carries two fishing poles. Mounting can be of your choice. One way would be to drill a hole in the area where your studs are in the bottom of the gutter, and use a sheet metal screw and washer to attach it to your structure. I would also consider a couple eye hooks on either side on the structure and a short bungee to hold the reels up against the gutter.
Good luck.

I have these mounted in the garage and they work great. They can be screwed to a flat surface and a strip of velcro can be added to prevent the rods from coming out although I don't think it would be necessary.
Mine are mounted so the rods are vertical but I am sure they could be mounted to hold the rods horizontally.

I use 2, 4" long hook and loop, (I can't use the "Velcro" word - I use to work for 3M!) straps screwed to the ceiling of the basement for each rod. Easy, cheap, quick, works.
